Stefon Diggs visiting Patriots

He looked very good last year, but unfortunately he is both 1 year older (32) and also coming off an ACL tear.

Having said that, he is a technician, so I think even with a bit of reduced athleticism he would still be pretty capable. The other issue is that he may not even be ready for week 1.

I don’t know, I’m 35 and just hand and ACL, MCL, and meniscus surgery. I’m already running/cutting and nearly fully functional 5 weeks later.

I had the same surgery when I was 15 years old on my other leg. It’s mind blowing how much better and quicker this recovery has been. Mind you I was young a well trained athlete the first time. Today, not at all. They’ve just gotten so much better with these surgeries IMO. Never mind the guys who are quietly getting stem cells to Boot. Anyone seen Diggs down in TJ? If so sign the beast lol

Ok, ok, ok, I get it… Last years “ahem” starting WR’s included our very own, “One Catch Wonder” the imminent Tyquan Thornton who after 3 years is still looking for his 4th TD reception, 500 total yards, and his 50th reception. Then lo and behold we’re talking to a guy who in 8 games last year has accomplished what our erstwhile 2nd round trade up (yeah, let that one sink in) couldn’t do in his first (maybe his last) 3 years. If we are fortunate enough to be able to draft Travis Hunter along with signing Diggs at least we know he’ll learn some “swagger” from Diggs and maybe how *NOT* to be a 3 year bust like all the other high draft pick receivers drafted since Deion Branch…..

Im glad the recovery is going well for you.

Maybe Diggs won't be as much of a jerk as he is coming off an ACL.

No need for players throwing tantrums on the sidelines for not getting the ball.
It beats receivers sitting quietly on the sidelines because they can’t get open

Remarkably, we have a team with receivers who can’t get open and people think that’s better than one who can and wants the ball. Receivers are supposed to want the ball.
Besides with this wr room he will get so many targets he will be too tired to complain

Diggs tore his ACL late October. Assuming typical recovery, when would we see him on the field?

Bourne tore his around the same time and only missed 4 games the next year. Supposedly diggs is having a good recovery so i could guess anytime between opening day and week 5. Might not be full speed until some point in the second half of the season unless hes a cyborg like Edelman or Godwin

He injured in week 8, he should be good to go, maybe will start training camp slowly.

Obs: the same is valid for Aiyuk (week 7) but I think that ship has sailed.

A lot of patriots fans still live in the past where we were able to win with good locker room guys who were less talented, but that’s because Tom Brady was the QB. And Brady still played with several All Pro/ProBowl options during those years like Randy Moss, Wes Welker , Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Brandin Cooks.

Expecting Maye to produce good numbers and help the team win games with less talent is a recipe for disaster. We can’t rely on scheming to get wide receivers open. We need a dude that Drake can grow with and rely on when the stakes are high.

Usually 6 months
After a year you don’t think about it anymore

That is a very sad statistic which shows how porous and anemic are wide receivers have been.

Thanks for posting though!
Much sadder and scarier stat, in 12 out 17 games the patriots didn’t have any receiver on the team exceed 62 yards

All I know about such injuries regarding football players in-general (and WR's in-specific), is that it's not so much when they can return (given that his was last October), and he might be ready at the beginning of the season. It's more a matter of how much time for the player to return to pre-injury form. Most WR's take a full year of playing to get back to that point (such was the case with Edelman, etc.).

That’s asinine. And posters get angry with me when I scream for the patriots front office to find one quality wide receiver for Maye.

Sometimes you get attitude problems with the better athletes. Guys like Bourne Polk Baker Douglas Boutte don’t have attitudes because they have no talent. They stink.
Boutte and Douglas don't stink. And they are talented.

roughly 9 months. Some can get back as quick as 6 months and others 12 months. I know its just a large window but he could be ready by week 1 but not be at full speed

I can’t believe I’m writing this but…sign the beast!

He may have a grudge against Buff…excellent.

He’s likely FAR better than anything we have even at 90%.

Two year deal, lots of incentives

diggs?

don't let him leave new england without a contract... least two years, three would be better.

Boutte and Douglas don't stink.

Both are JAGs

Douglas- a smurf who is zero threat in the red zone, not good at route running, and doesn’t run fast enough for being so small and weak.

Boutte- not tall enough, not strong enough, not fast enough, no threat in the red zone, gives questionable effort at times, has average hands.
