Player Signing Patriots sign Center Garrett Bradbury

I don’t pretend to be an expert on PFF grading system. They grade Bradbury poorly in pass protection, but in looking at their stats he’s given up 166 pressures in 88 career games. That’s slightly fewer than 2 pressures per game. Without a frame of reference, that doesn’t seem terrible, considering he’s really good in the run game

This is worth noting from 2023:

On Monday night against San Francisco, Bradbury played his part in one of the most impressive offensive line displays of recent times. Against a dominant defensive front, the Vikings OL stood strong and gave Kirk Cousins the time he needed to put on one of the best quarterbacking displays of his career.

That was against Armstead and Hargreaves - a couple of the best interior rushers that year. If he had dramatic physical limitations they would have been taken advantage of.

The OL plays as a unit - more than any other group, how you do depends also on the guys around you. So really hard to judge in isolation.

Here’s a scouting report from a Minny fan

Hopefully his issues in pass protection can be coached out of him.
Me too!

Sow is a decent LG. He was injured last season. So he could be a good backup to strange and Robinson for onwenu. I think they will keep strange as center backup and play him at center and see how it works. If he works well, then Bradbury might be the backup while sow is LG starter. We might just need a backup LG unless bradberry does that too.

Lowe measurables are insane. He lacks fundamentals and that shows. But last season he was off injured and played because there was no backup. Let's see if he is improved this year with improved coaching, better off season and increased reps . If he can hold forte for few games while rookie LT comes on board we can live with that .

All we need is for Hunter to be available on draft Day with pick 4 and ability to trade up with Vikings and draft conerly Jr. That would make this off-season a resounding success as compared to last year.
Sow was healthy last year and he stinks.

Eh, hope we are looking draft if this is our big iol signing.

Teven jenkins i think is still available

Thomas Vrown was his coach in Chicago, and they have shown zero interest in him, so there is something they don’t like about him.

Not a big fan of Bradbury, but a two year deal is perfect. That should be the length of all of the rest of the free agents they sign should get.

I don't think he was remotely close to healthy.
Is he the plan? I want competition at EVERY position
I am all for competition. I just prefer competition between starting caliber players not backup level players. Because Bradbury isn’t starting caliber anymore.

It’s like signing Mack Hollins and thinking you are fine at WR because you have competition

Who said I was happy at WR?
I want competition EVERYWHERE.

Agree! If he can not pass block why sign him

Anyway something good about this signing is now we don't need to extend ourselves to pick the best center in the draft in Zabel if we don't want. That to me was the only reasonable option besides a trade until this guy was signed. Now the door is opened to take someone who could develop over the course of a year a little later or just punt entirely to next year in free agency. To me though this make signing a top guard in FA even more important.

The guy started 88 games. The Vikings won 14 games with Sam Darnold at qb. Last time I checked Sam wasn't exactly cool hand Luke under pressure. So I'm going to go ahead and assume that he isn't THAT terrible and that he can be coached up.
The **** people ***** about in here never ceases to amaze me...

Look at the video NE_Zealot links above at the 1 minute mark. You might consider whether you want to go on with that assumption.

Ya, NOONE can ever see a beating anywhere else.

He's a five year veteran. Can you teach an old dog new tricks?
