I would have liked Becton but buyer beware on giving a big contract to a #1 pick who are his way out of a job, had to change positions, and was pretty good in a contract year, who said “I’d like to stay at g because it’s easier”. Many red flags.
Robinson is still available
Fries is a guy we were in on.

I agree the IOL spot is one we should have been more aggressive with. Even if you have high hopes for Robinson (I don’t) we are carrying a crap load of cap space so why wouldn’t you get a top IOL?
So far that’s the biggest miss I see.

Thier approach is revamping the defense. Setting the culture. They will of course add OT and WR.. we have Vrabel running the show not like last season wolf telling us there was enough to support Drake.

We have the coaching, the culture and the vision now. As we currently speak I can say with confidence we have the best HC in the AFCE.

They did not sit down and say defense and “culture” are importsnt offense isn’t.

Can we please drop this “culture” ********. It’s like saying but she has a great personality. No one who knows anything about building a football team thinks that bad players make good culture and good players make bad culture.

I've been a fan of Egbuka since last year. I seem to be a lot higher on his potential for NFL success than most other folks. I once said that he reminds me of a bigger 6'1-202 vs 6'1-195, and faster 4.4 something 40 vs 4.30 40 Justin Jefferson. But when people point out that he's not on the same level as Jefferson, I point out that when he was drafted (after Jalen Reagor by the way), he wasn't the Jefferson that he came to be. He's been played mostly out of the slot in college, but with his size, speed, and quickness, he can be deployed at any WR position. Barring injury, and an incompetent coaching staff, and poor QB play, he could greatly exceed his draft position. Just my humble opinion.

I’m a big long time fan if THE Ohio State University. The Buckeyes have produced tons of top WRs over the years and virtually have a future 1st round receiver or 2 on the squad every season.
College play doesn’t always translate to NFL (if it did Devon Smith would have been an all pro) but Egbuka felt a couple of steps below the level of the WRs the last decade.
Harrison, olave, Wilson, JSN, Smith were night and day better.

Potentially dumb post incoming. I was just looking at depth charts and saw that the chargers are going to start Quenton Johnston and Mike Williams along with Ladd, that is 2 6-4 WRs.

So my potentially dumb thought was lets draft King Tet (hopefully after a trade down) and then Higgins at 38. Both 6-4 with great hands and huge catch radius and both are good over the middle, which Drakes like the middle of the field.

If we sign Robinson and Teven Jenkins, so that way we can hopefully put out a competent OL. Feel free to tell me how dumb or genius you think the idea is.

Regarding the WR position, OL (especially LT and LG, and even Center), and other positions where we need talent, I believe that this is a good draft to trade down. If a team is willing to give us more assets in this and the next draft (and assuming the team can actually nail this draft and the next with those picks), that's the route I would take. I'm not against the idea of staying at #4 and hopefully nailing that (and the next 3 Rounds after).

I just think that it would benefit the team more to trade back if it can. But again, not nailing the additional picks will be a severe detriment. It's just not a good draft to have the #4 Overall Pick (especially given what this team needs the most). For those that lack reading comprehension skills, notice I didn't say that if we stay at #4 that would be a disaster. I'm just saying that it may prove more beneficial this year and the next to trade back (but we still need to make the right picks regardless).

Trade down is definitely ideal, I really doubt it happens. I know people are saying that teams will want to trade up for the QB. IMO this is like the Kenny Pickett draft.

Jenkins is on an in-person visit to another team this weekend, can't recall which one. In most cases the player is ready to sign a contract.,,

We should absolutely want to trade down. The dilemma is whether there will be anyone willing to spend the cost of trading up.

Bad teams should always trade down and accumulate picks that’s how you get better. And most try to, but in many cases can’t get a good offer.

I think height is largely irrelevant. If you get open it doesn’t matter how tall you are. Get good players.

I will not be shocked if WR is the pick at 4 unless Carter or Hunter are available. Higgins is either going to re-sign with the Bengals or they will probably have to remove the tag. I'd sit back and wait and not trade anything for Higgins.

Jackson was a very good WR and the pre Mike Evans in Tampa Bay, but Flyod was just a jump ball gimmick player.

Yes. We in trouble. When we picked Edelman when we had Moss and Welker, both FA pickups... Gave him time to learn from Pro's. It's means something. Hopefully Josh can make lemonade out of our 's.

Based on how they haven't acquired a starting left tackle in FA... and hearing comments from Vrabel on their emphasis on protecting Drake Maye... I'm 99% sure it will be Will Campbell at 4 and they will plug him in at LT and hope his tape dominating the top SEC rushers translates to the NFL, despite his wingspan.

Then we will trade back into end of R1 for Golden/Higgins/Bond after the inevitable run on receivers begins in the 20's.

I think this year they will take a swing at a WR with alpha potential (either a 6'4 guy like Higgins or a deep threat speedster like Bond/Golden), no more Polk mediocre WR2 ceiling guys - our room is too crowded with that.


Also, whoever we take remember this:

Jalen Reagor was taken ahead of Justin Jefferson.
Kyle Pitts taken ahead of Jamarr Chase.
N'Keal Harry ahead of AJ Brown.

As much as I want Travis Hunter as our WR1, if he's not there, and after seeing Maye getting bashed around behind our line last year I could absolutely live with "reaching" on Campbell at 4. Worst case you end up having him play left guard for years just as Mankins did after he was a college LT.

Give me Campbell and Maye on the field over Abdul Carter and Joe Milton because Drake is on IR.

I also think T-Mac would be the best option if the worst case scenario of Hunter and Carter both gone by pick #4. Slight trade down would be ideal but if we have to take a player he would make biggest impact.

I don't believe in taking guards at #4. And there's a pretty decent chance a good tackle prospect like Ersery or Conerly drops to 2nd round, or my preference is to trade up in bottom of the 1st and take Simmons or Banks.
