Part Two
106. Nohl Williams, DB, California
Vrabel has talked about getting bigger at the nickel back slot. Williams provides that at 6' and 199lbs. More importantly he is one of the better tacklers and run defenders in this draft at the CB position with only 3 missed tackles. But here's the kicker. He led the FBS in INTs with 7 last year so I also envisage him playing a NB/FS hybrid much as Elijah Molden did for the Titans.
121. JJ Pegues, DT, Ole Miss
It would be a shame not to take advantage of this DT class this year. Pegues has significant snaps along the entire DL this past season including at EDGE outside the tackle and at 325lbs has the size to backup Khyiris Tonga. He has a very good run defense rating but also the quickness to be a penetrating DT as this scheme demands. Then of course, there's the whole Wildcat QB/FB thing.
144. Kyle Monangai, RB, Rutgers
If there's anyone in this draft who fits the Vrabel character mould, it's Monangai. Two time team captain and ZERO career fumbles. Might not be a starter, but who better to relieve Rhamondre should he start up with his fumbles again.
217. Hollin Pierce, OT, Rutgers
Double dipping at Rutgers? Pierce really intrigues me. He's very strong in true pass sets and is a people mover in the run game. Similar in size to Trent Brown, I think he'd make for an excellent developmental guy.
220. Dylan Fairchild, iOL, Georgia
Competition for the LG spot. Fairchild has an 87.0 pass block grade from PFF and Matt Miller was grading him as a first rounder mid-season. There might be real value here.
238. Nick Martin, LB, Oklahoma St.
My favourite highlight reel of this entire process has been Martin's. He's undersized at just under 6', but he's a very good pass defender and is also a super-explosive downhill defender against the run. He attacks runners and scrambling QBs like he's been fired out of a cannon. He would undoubtedly be an excellent special teamer if nothing else.
