First Meaningless 2025 Mock

This was an experiment. I wanted to build a dominant running game on offense around Omarion Hampton, provide depth on the DL and draft Vrabel type guys.

Of note, Hollin Pierce is the highest graded run blocking LT on PFF and Willie Lampkin the highest graded run blocking guard (although I drafted him to play centre). Jack Sawyer covers both Landry and White whilst Deone Walker, who apparently played last season with a broken back, is Barmore insurance.

Were you on ‘Ludes or something when you drafted Hampton 8TH OVERALL?!?

Its what i think it will happen. And quiet honestly i wont be mad, he will be a good NFL player.

I did something different with this one, hoping Hunter is available.
I love the dart throw on Isaac TeSlaa. I have been mocking him in the 7th for awhile, which means he will not be a Patriot. lol

As I said, it was an experiment. I couldn't get a trade down from 8 and I knew I was drafting Hampton regardless.

I think he's more of a strong safety with that size which enables him to cover TEs.

A google or three didn’t provide me an answer, so I’m going to ask here. What is the most amount of players selected by a single team in a single draft? I really am curious

I believe it's the Minnesota Vikings in 2020

In 2020, the Minnesota Vikings had 15 picks, giving them the record for most picks since the draft was limited to 7 rounds. This also gave them the most picks since the 2002 realignment and the most picks since the draft became a 3-day event.

Previous to that it was the 2016 Browns and 1997 Dolphins on 14

Nice. Interesting. I would’ve never thought 15. That’s more than two drafts in one.

My version of this draft concept.

That’d be like winning the lottery. Even the “pro” mocks I’m reading are so allllll over the place. Draft day gonna be wild and leave us all confused.

If you want. You send those two seconds and a 3rd to Roseman, and Brown is yours for the taking

Jeanty and Henderson. 'Lightning and Lightning'.

It doesn't feel very realistic, but those first 8 picks are fire!

Part One

My first post-FA attempt at a predictive mock. Forgive the pictures but I wanted to add some flourish. The mock comes from the PFF simulator.

4. Travis Hunter, WR, Colorado

A must draft if he's there which is starting to look a little more likely. I see him as a WR for our team that adds much needed speed. I envision him being able to play all three WR roles if required.

38. Jack Bech, WR, TCU

Both he and Hunter take our WR room from also-rans to something much more substantial. Bech provides the character Vrabel craves as well as his contested catch/RZ guy that he's talked about. A WR room of Hunter - Bech - Boutte - Douglas - Hollins leaves Polk and Baker needing to work their socks off in pre-season to stick. Bech has really impressed throughout the pre-draft process.

69. Ozzy Trapilo, OT, Boston College

I'm drafting him here to play LT. With all the connections we have to Trapilo (Marrone, O'Brien, Dante) this feels like a real possibility. He has played LT before and while he may never be a franchise one, in this weak LT class, I think he's as likely to succeed as much as his rivals. Another high character guy.

77. Trade. Pick 77 to Bucs for picks 84 & 121

84. Tate Ratledge, iOL, Georgia

Ratledge worked out at center at the combine so for now, that's where I'm envisioning him playing. However he could replace Onwenu long-term if that doesn't work out. One of the most athletic OL at the combine with tonnes of experience. Mullets ftw!

Part Two

106. Nohl Williams, DB, California

Vrabel has talked about getting bigger at the nickel back slot. Williams provides that at 6' and 199lbs. More importantly he is one of the better tacklers and run defenders in this draft at the CB position with only 3 missed tackles. But here's the kicker. He led the FBS in INTs with 7 last year so I also envisage him playing a NB/FS hybrid much as Elijah Molden did for the Titans.

121. JJ Pegues, DT, Ole Miss

It would be a shame not to take advantage of this DT class this year. Pegues has significant snaps along the entire DL this past season including at EDGE outside the tackle and at 325lbs has the size to backup Khyiris Tonga. He has a very good run defense rating but also the quickness to be a penetrating DT as this scheme demands. Then of course, there's the whole Wildcat QB/FB thing.

144. Kyle Monangai, RB, Rutgers

If there's anyone in this draft who fits the Vrabel character mould, it's Monangai. Two time team captain and ZERO career fumbles. Might not be a starter, but who better to relieve Rhamondre should he start up with his fumbles again.

217. Hollin Pierce, OT, Rutgers

Double dipping at Rutgers? Pierce really intrigues me. He's very strong in true pass sets and is a people mover in the run game. Similar in size to Trent Brown, I think he'd make for an excellent developmental guy.

220. Dylan Fairchild, iOL, Georgia

Competition for the LG spot. Fairchild has an 87.0 pass block grade from PFF and Matt Miller was grading him as a first rounder mid-season. There might be real value here.

238. Nick Martin, LB, Oklahoma St.

My favourite highlight reel of this entire process has been Martin's. He's undersized at just under 6', but he's a very good pass defender and is also a super-explosive downhill defender against the run. He attacks runners and scrambling QBs like he's been fired out of a cannon. He would undoubtedly be an excellent special teamer if nothing else.
