1. They feel fairly confident in what they saw out of Cole Strange at center
2. They probably feel Ben Brown is a solid backup
3. They will likely heavily pursue a free agent left guard this week
Sorta. He got hurt pretty early. I'll always associate the Mayo year with Ben Brown at C.Great guy and great player. Assuming he's done, too bad his career had to end with the Mayo farce.
Yeah, C- or D+ if you're hard marker.Sorta. He got hurt pretty early. I'll always associate the Mayo year with Ben Brown at C.
The dude should be given the opportunity - and has Earned the right - to compete for his job. Releasing him before he's given that opportunity would be ********, and the money saved minuscule.
Yeah, C- or D+ if you're hard marker.
Joe Cardona is still here.Great champion.
I think that was the last player from the 2018 squad?
Cardona and Bentley. Bentley didn't play much that year.Great champion.

Thanks...and then there was one.Cardona and Bentley. Bentley didn't play much that year.
I agree. I think they want to give Strange a long, hard look at C.Strange can play C or G. My hunch is they'd rather see him a C, especially if they're trying to build a mauling type of OL 330-350 lbs. Sow and Robinson then compete for LG, plus any FA or draftee LG we obtain.
They film each practice for internal use and in this case probably very valuable for Vrabel to review. But of course it's still a projection and we have no clue what Vrabel thinks of Strange at either LG or C.One of my concerns with penciling in Strange at center has been that there really isn't much tape of it. He didn't do it in college. He practiced it last year but only got a couple of games in. And with a new coaching staff, it's not like there's a lot of exposure to how it went in practice. It's just 2 games at a new position and that's all they have to go on. They'd, in large part, be going in blind to pencil him in there.
HOWEVER, I recently realized that one of the few holdovers from last year's staff is Robert Kugler (assistant OL). So they do have one voice on staff who can speak to how Strange's assimilation to the center position went behind the scenes. So they at least do have some first hand knowledge of how viable he looked there not just in those 2 games but behind the scenes a bit.
