So hard to say in a 7 game series. I would have to go with the '86 team. Tiant was excellent but Clemens was dominant. Also he was a lot younger so you probably got three strong wins from him and perhaps some relief appearances too. Both teams dropped off quickly after the number one starter so it's really a crap shoot on the rest of the starters.

The '75 team went up against one of the best line ups of all time, the Big Red Machine. It's amazing they took them to seven games.

Presuming RIce is not injured, it's interesting that he'd be in both games since he was still around in '86.

The '04 team was the team with the gas. Manny, Papi, Pedro, Shill, damn!

I've had this fun debate 1000 times.

75 team had a better offense (Jimmy plays)
86 team was slightly better defensively in the infield and in the outfield. Might be a wash.
86 team had better 1-4 starters (if we are adding 75 Rice. We are adding Tom Seaver) 86 Clemens and Hurst were monsters.

Bullpen was a wash. 86 gets the nod if you forget the Schiraldi meltdown.

It goes 7 game and in the 21st inning Schiraldi gives up 3 straight hits and the ball goes through Buckner's legs. 86 Dewey was playing shallow because can-o-corn Denny Doyle was hitting and 35 yo Yaz running in at home. The throw at the plate.......

I do know 04 beats both teams

I think that 1975 team is the team. Rice, Fisk, Yaz, Evans, Lynn... What a team.

That 75 series was loaded with HoFers. Lo-----dead.

If you're going to stab me with bad memories, why not throw in Bucky F'n Dent and 1978? And Ben Drieth? and too many men on the ice?
And Len Bias celebrating in a tragic way? and Tony C? oh and Tyree's catch" And Manningham's?
nvm...

Red Sox be so cursed they change your middle name to a NSFW adjective

I get sad when I think of all the members of the ‘75 team that should’ve been on the ‘86 team too

Same coaches? If so I take the 75 team. If I’m coaching? Clemens is getting as many as 3 starts if needed and coming in for relief in all close games. No throw behind the batter Schiraldi, no softball gut guy Stanley.

Wrote a high school paper on why the 86 team would break the curse at beginning of season. Almost looked like Nostradamus until they blew it.

Another reason to favor the '75 team is that our Game 3 starter - though he lost - was Rick Wise, for whom the pitching clock was created; the Game 3 starter for the '86 team was the Oil Can - who also lost - replacing an injured Tom Seaver.

If we had Seaver for Game 3 instead of that choke-artist psycho, we win the Series. Period.

Seaver pitching against the Mets would have been great theatre.

Totally forgot about Seaver. Had a Bill Walton like resurgence accept it got cut short,

Dwight Evans was my guy....and the great cat and mouse game of base runners willing to test Evans arm intrigued me to no end.
The '75 series....Evans' arm vs Joe Morgan's legs....a tremendous display, a tremendous era for baseball.

These days, arms don't matter in a league that values HRs and strikeouts.
