When you have a position group of 3, and 2 of the spots appear to be locks and the other spot has 2 young 4th rounder candidates with starting experience, you kinda put that on a back burner and focus on stuff that really matters. With any position, if a stud appears on the horizon who's better than anyone we got (probably with June cuts), sure. But those aren't the phone calls happening this week.
We have one decent G one guy who missed all but 2 games last year who could play C or G and no one else who has shown they can capably play.
They started at times because we had the worst ol in football.

It is a severe need.

And they can focus on many needs at once, or werent you paying attention yesterday?

How a fan of this team could watch the OL play the last 3 years and think adding capable players is “back burner” is beyond my comprehension

What will the draft picks cost?
I don't know, but the cost of draft picks is already include in the Effective Cap Numbers listed in overthecap's numbers

Charles Omenihu of the Chiefs could be a guy worth looking into on the DL. Going into his age 28 season. Only 1 sack in 6 games last year but he had 7 in 11 games in 2023 before tearing his ACL. Very typical for guys to struggle in year 1 back from injury and then bounce back to their norm in the second year, so could be a good candidate to produce closer to his 2023 levels this year. He's got 5.5 sacks in 12 games over the last 4 seasons with KC and SF before that so some good big game production too.

Are you thinking like I am that tagging Higgins is just to be able to trade him, as keeping him really messes up their ability to not only keep other players they have at other positions (especially when their contracts are up), but that it prevents them from adding via FA (especially next year and beyond). Not to mention that they're already over the cap by quite a few bucks.

If the team is going back to using a FB, I'd prefer an actual FB that can block and catch some passes.
JJ Pegues, a DT from Ole Miss was used as a FB. He ran routes and caught passes at the combine and looked smooth at 6-3 310. Not a fast guy though. The problem with wanting a real Full back is that they are pretty much obsolete in College.

He also was his teams short yardage back. It's him or Willie Lampkins that I'd love for FB.

I think most people view LG as a lower need because they think the LT Fairy will put one under our pillow and fix that spot for us. And while none of Sow/Robinson/JAndrews have seized a role, I think many people here have the optimism that if the other 4 spots are settled with good starters then one of them would emerge as capable.

I'm much more on your side that it's a huge need.

I agree that its a big need, especially now that bigger needs have been addressed. I hope one of the above mentioned players can become the guy, but to bank on it is crazy to me.

Yup, especially when you look at how likely it is that Onwenu could be cut next year based on his contract structure and the fact that Strange is a FA. Even if you count on DAndrews coming back and holding down a job, he'll still be a FA next year. We have 2/3 IOL spots open for 2026 right now and IMO likely all 3 since I can't see them keeping Onwenu on that deal unless they HAVE to. Adding one long term starter to the mix doesn't even disqualify some of that crop of young guys from ending up starters here long term.

Im guessing its russell after he tweeted the double date pic with metcalf a couple days back(prior to that trade being announced). And i just don’t think Pittsburgh is stupid enough to repeat what the jets just tried.

Our #1, #2, and #3 needs are all now on the OL. Certainly 3 of the top 4 needs.

I wish the site would ban all these asinine looping video things, whatever they are called. They are childish.
