Aggressiveness and quickness will set the tone. With Carlton Davis across from Gonzalez you've got two skilled man corners behind what should be a wrecking crew front seven. If Barmore is healthy, teaming him with Williams, Landry, and Keion White might make the Patriots' most imposing DL ever.

This will look a lot more like Pete Carroll's defense when he first got here.

Man up, hit them in the mouth, and pressure, pressure, pressure.

Gonna be tough to pass against those CBs.

Will we be able to stop the run without subbing out on early downs?

Or does the DL give up pass rush to protect against early down runs, counting on the DBs to keep everything in front of them? Then turn up the heat on third downs?

Seems like that would be fun to watch. Less fun to play against.

You know we had Richard Seymour, Ty Warren and Vince wilfork. Plus Willie Mcginest who was an edge player. Come on guy get a grip with that best d line ever

It would be nice if the new guys developed to play at that level.

Let’s hope for that. It’d be fun to watch.

He said, "might." A careful reader is a smart reader. The bar is high and Barmore back healthy and perhaps draft additions is necessary.

Yes, I personally attended ALL the games they played in Foxboro, I certainly have "a grip." I also know they primarily played a 3-4 with a different style/philosophy than what Terrell Williams brings to the table. So get your own grip.

Add in spillane who's a teddy Bruschi type sideline to sideline thumper and can also bring heat up the middle. Who will run on us? Who will pass on us?.. we will force teams into what we want them to do. QBs Who can run will no longer be weakness for us.. And for goodness sakes will finally be able to beat Tua and slow down that Miami offense. Gonzo will be able to gamble more to make INTs and game changing plays.

One thing is for sure, people aren’t going to run all over this defense. Spillane, landry and bentley if we keep him are a major boost.

If we can land one more edge rusher and a true fs i don’t think people will pass on us either. Defense will be a major strength provided these and if barmore is back.

If you’re trying to justify it I’ll just leave it at that lol. You were at the games bahahaha. Well then you don’t know what you’re watching

So you think keion white, Christian Barmore and Monty Williams “might” be as good as Seymour, Warren and wilfork? Bahahahahahahahhahah. Careful reader dahahahahah some of you people are just delusional

A healthy Kyle Duggar will also be beneficial and Peppers is still with us after being found not guilty.
Put it all together and we have what looks like a very good defense..

Nothing I posted requires justification, Mr. "lol."

Your forced comparison of apples to oranges ignorantly excludes Landry and the fundamental difference in scheme spelling a dedicated four-man front. If you still can't tell the difference between the Seymour/Warren/Wilfork era and what T. Williams plans for WHAT MIGHT BE THE PATRIOTS' MOST IMPOSING DL EVER, you need remedial help. Talk about "getting a grip," you haughty child.

This is how the 03 and 04 defenses were built. Stout run game and heavy pressure from the DL.. spillane was a dam good pick up.

Yep, first things first you need to be able to stop the run. I don’t think we’re completely done there but fortunately this draft is very rich in DL and we can probably land good help in rd 3/4.

Still have money for a fs splurge and there should be edge available in rd 3/4 too. Thats a nice defense if we pull it off.

Yes, and on top of what you mentioned thier will be more Small pick ups for depth on defense.. yeah FS I'm intrigued by.. when marpu came back he was solid there he played with good instincts. I can see Vrabel really coaching up marpu.. remember Kevin Byard? He was just like marpu a player in and out the rotation when Vrabel coached him. He then became an all pro.

You and I watched a completely different Marte Mapu then. To me, he looked completely lost, and 3 steps too slow to react on every play he was at FS, which IMO is why they started putting Jonathan Jones back there.

Jones had a hard enough time playing CB let alone S . This is the version of marpu I saw along with the league.

ok you win. Harold Landry, Milton Williams, Christian Barmore and Keion white are comparable to Willie McGinest, Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork and Ty Warren.

of course i want this. but to say this is our best D line ever is the most comical thing ever.
