In other words, it's a gamble,
every signing is a gamble.... some are larger than others... but there is always a risk... as long as that is factored into the signing, and its managed properly so it doesn't hurt the team in a significant manner, then you've at least tried to do something...

The Patriots need to **** or get off the pot... i don't care if its Bosa... Or Hendrickson.. or who ever... but doing nothing ain't going to make us a better team.

if we don't spend it, what good is it? its worth nothing...

at this point we need to take a few risks on some older players, just to add talent to the roster... we are in desperate need of talent/depth...

in 2000/2001 we were in the middle of a roster revamp after BB came on board... guys he brought along for the ride include
anthony pleasant - 2001 - 33 years old
roman phifer - 2001 - 33 years old
bobby hamilton - 2000 - 29 years old
otis smith - 2000 - 35 years old
mike compton - 2001 - 31 years old
antowain smith - 2001 - 29 years old
terrell buckley - 2001 - 30 years old
brian cox - 2001- 33 years old

These guys played, for the most part, 2-4 years here contributing in a significant manner to championship teams... all in their 30's (or were on the brink of 30)...

We have the cap space to add talent... so what if some of them are "misses"... we have so much room, we can easily eat those mistakes... won't hurt the bottom line at all
You're naming players that played literally a quarter century ago.

How many players are you willing to overpay by $15M each? Only takes seven of them to get over $100M in total overpayment. Not so insignificant anymore.
IMO you're already drastically overpaying Mike Onwenu, Rhamondre Stevenson and Kyle Dugger. So, 3+ however many more.

Too early to say it's overpay, if we are speaking real arguments. Last year was a **** show and they all deserve one more year of evaluation at the very least

Talk about pearl clutching.

I think Dugger does deserve that benefit of the doubt. Stevenson's a massive overpay, there are 10 FA RBs that can do his job for half the price. And the way Onwenu fell off a cliff last year, after becoming the highest paid player on the team, is terrifying.

Fair enough on Omweno, but at least Stevenson is "just" a RB, so it's not all super relevant for cap purposes

FA hasn't even started.
Stupidity isn't just overspending badly on guys that basically live in the tub, but those guys also take a a valuable Roster Spot, which has to be juggled every week.
Bill said it best- Best Ability is Availability.

It's not huge, but it's not nothing, either. 5.5 mil this year, 7+mil next year, then I imagine they cut him after that (they can for free). It's pennies in relation to the cap, but if it's the difference between making a big FA signing, or trying to nickel and dime the same FA - it's pretty big.

Not when you have 140 million weighing in our collective, imaginary pockets... But yeah, you are right in general here

I agree. That said, you have to remember who the owner is. The only two players they ever spent any real money on were Brady and Steph Gilmore, until Onwenu.

Dont get me started lol

It would be a massive upset if he doesn't land in SF to team up with his brother. It would be a great situation for him because he can rotate with Floyd.

The point is you can't win that way anymore. It was a completely different time.
You can't win with guys that KNOW HOW to play?
Football is still Football, smart experienced tough players still have a role.
Youngin only **** is barf worthy.

It's awesome Joey Bosa knows how to play. Too bad he's spent 33 of his last 51 possible games on crutches. Are you bringing him in to coach? Because chances are he won't be on the field much, and you're still paying him big-time money.

"Bring in only old guys I've heard of before" is how you get the Cleveland Browns or New York Jets. I'm not willing to wait 4 decades to be in contention because 'Cooper Kupp is a character guy' on one leg.

that kind of thinking is what landed us jerod mayo as a head coach.

Yeah one leg...12 games 710yds and 6 tds.
IOW, WAY MORE than your "Youngins" COMBINED.
Hey look at that, almost as much as DK, AND more than that BUM Aiyuk.

Too old.. lmfao, get real, some guys just KNOW how to play.
