OT: What happened to Trevor Lawrence?

As my 3-year-old granddaughter says to my son, about a lot of things: "Dad... that's terrible."

Lawrence is still a starter in Jacksonville.
Zach Wilson is a free agent, but even if he resigns...he will be the Broncos' #2 at best.
Trey Lance is a free agent, only 5-6 NFL starts under his belt. Was a 3rd stringer in Dallas last year.
Justin Fields is a free agent. Was a back up in Pittsburgh last year.
Mac Jones is a free agent. Was a back up in Jacksonville last year.
Kyle Trask is a free agent. Was a back up in Tampa the last four years.
Kellen Mond is no longer in the NFL. He is in the UFL.
Davis Mills is a free agent. Was a back up in Houston the last 2 years.

Jeez....four years later....only one starting QB from that draft that played 10 games, threw for 2,045 yards on 60.6% with a TD/INT ratio of 11/7.

I gotta say that was the worst QB draft ever, right?

Both are interesting watches. Didn't expect to see that many similarities between what Lawrence faced in his rookie year and Drake's including some terrible coaching.

Wasn't to long ago he took the Jags to a divisional and played competitive. Injuries don't help.. but man has he fell off. I thought that jags team would be a problem in the AFC.

He's an average NFL qb on a below-averge team. It's odd we are always surprised when "can't miss" QB's miss. Figuring out which college QB's will really shine in the NFL is a task obviously beyond the capability of mere mortals. It's pretty much a crapshoot, isn't it?

He was never all that good. I think his best year, he was at best at the low part of the top 10 in QBs.

I think he is a victim of circumstances, but he is clearly not the generational talent that he was hyped as. He might have turned into a very good QB in the right system and talent around him, but he was never going to be more than low end top 10. The Jags probably ruined the guy.

Of course, his work ethic has always been in question.

BTW, Mac Jones didn't play all that much worse last year when he started (after his first two starts) than Lawrence.

Davis Mills is a free agent. Was a back up in Houston the last 2 years.
Davis Mills is signed through this season in Houston. If I became a GM and was at the start of a rebuild I would bring him in as my bridge QB next offseason. He could potentially improve to become a starter or at least get you to the next guy.

I liked him coming out of college too. I also thought he did ok as a pro before Stroud came along.

His receiver from college, Feholo, sure looked good to me too...don't know why he didn't make an impact with the Cowboys, Steelers, and Chargers (yet.

There's worse drafts for QB's. However, that was hyped as a big QB draft if not one of the best ever and most of those guys fell.

Though tbf, I do wonder if Lawrence being hyped so much inflated how people viewed the other guys. Like Wilson/Lance/Mac weren't actually all that impressive. Wilson was a weird combine hype job, Mac was a boring high floor low ceiling and Lance was a major project. But when you say "oh this is the second or third best after Lawrence" who was discussed like he was some sort of god tier prospect, it makes them seem like bigger deals.

It's like if I go to the YMCA and Michael Jordan happens to be there and I say "oh hey I'm the best player here after Michael Jordan". Sounds a lot better than the reality. And then you realize it's actually 62 year old Jordan and not the guy you instantly think of and have highlight flashbacks of and it gets a lot less impressive.

Mills always was and still is a longshot QB project, nothing more nothing less. Teams can do better than that if they want a bridge QB.

This is so historically awful it should be a graduate class at Harvard how people who get paid to be the best at what they do (scouts/GMs). Can be this awful

Mac Jones, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields at least belong in the NFL: And that’s about all the praise you can give. Amazing

Teams can do better if they want an old vet like Flacco.

If they want a young bridge QB who might become a reclamation project like Jared Goff became, Davis Mills is probably the best one out there.

Trevor and his team mates do not possess Cat like quickness.

That team and I may have a family resemblance however it is strictly a coincidence.

Jones won as many games as Lawernce did before his injury.

Lawernce 2-8
Jones 2-5

Jones also has a better career winning percentage by a mile (.408 to Lawrence .366).

This isn't a Matthew Stafford situation in Detroit. People need to come to terms that Lawrence isn't a good NFL QB.

Goff went 1OA…his ceiling was always much higher than Mills

Goff was considered damaged goods, nobody wanted him. The Rams had to heap a first round and additional picks just so rebuilding Detroit would eat his contract.

Detroit drafted Hendon Hooker in anticipation of replacing Goff, but Goff took the job and never gave it back. The revisionist history is strong with you.

Huh? Revisionist history? He wasn’t the 1OA pick?

He’s got loads of talent that Mills never had.

Trevor's just the first one where his ceiling didn't manifest and he stayed at his floor. Manning and Elway were kinda psychotic and were always going to max out their potential, Luck was sort of something in the middle until injuries the Colts killed his love of the game. Lawrence always seemed a bit happy go lucky.

FIFY. The Colts ruined Luck in a historically embarrassing and bad fashion. Those who say Andrews brought in his own injuries omit that a good organization can coach that out of you.

****hole organization.

I said nothing about Goff’s draft status, nor does it matter.

Once the draft ends, draft status is as irrelevant as a zodiac sign.
