The team that drafts Hunter will decide which position he focuses on. Yesterday Kiper and Yates were discussing Hunter as a WR and comped him to Justin Jefferson. Most here don’t want him as a corner, but how would you feel about them taking him to be WR?

hopefully the draft falls this way.

1.Ward
2. Hunter
3. Sanders
4. Carter or trade.

This has been my opinion all along. He won the Biletnikoff Award. He would be a Z and we still need an X.

No, absolutely not. Let somebody else be the first to deal with a Neon Deion coached player. Wherever we end up in the first round, we need trench warriors. OL or DL, we're lacking.

I think he will lay down the law with whoever drafts him and say OK...Corner first, but I want to play part time receiver too.

Where do you want to play would be my first question to him.

I would probably lose complete faith in the GM and scouting department. If you want to max his value out, he needs to be a full time CB with some gadget routes on offense. If he’s a pure wideout, he simply cannot be on defense. He’s not going to be able to learn defensive schemes and assignments on a part time basis, and we aren’t going to sub in a CB who doesn’t practice the position full time on critical downs after he’s been running routes all day,

That’s the smaller component to the problem. The bigger one is that he’s by consensus a better CB, he’s being universally graded as a CB and he’s entering the combine as a CB. Idk why you would draft someone that high and not put him in the best position possible to succeed. It comes off of “we are desperate and doing this for need”

The counterpoint is if he's the dynamic athlete that has been portrayed, he will get more opportunities to make plays on offense as a WR... ie he will touch the ball more.

But it isn't a hill I am gonna die on... Personally, I want a LT in the first round... despite all the push back I get over "value" and "being a reach" its still the direction I think that would best serve the long term interests of this team...

If we don't take a LT, its not like Maye is gonna have the time to throw to him anyways... so his best fit position will work itself out that way

I’m fine with going OL or DL, but Hunter’s character is as good as it gets. He didn’t just make Academic All American, he was named the Academic All American of The Year, and carries a 3.8 GPA. You want Winner Culture you aren’t going to get any better than this kid, he works his ass off and excels at everything.

He’s the consensus #1 WR in this draft, playing the best receiver in the country at WR isn’t a waste of his talent.

He’s not and most boards don’t even bother to rank him as such. There’s way more money in WR and he’s entering the combine as a CB. That should speak volumes.

He is, and the draft resources I use all have him listed as such. Jeremiah, NFL Stock Exchange, First Draft

He won The Belitnikoff Award as the best WR in the country.

I recently read a post by a Pats fan that stated that Hunter "has bust written all over him." Sure, a player who was the best player in the country in high school and the best player in the country in college, who did something that the other player in modern college football history has done and did it at an elite level on both sides of the ball and who is probably the most dynamic overall athlete in the entire draft has bust written all over him.
LOL. There are some real morons out there in Pats Nation.

I'd take Carter if both were available but I'd be thrilled if they take Hunter at 4. We'd potentially have our own Garrett Wilson, without having to give him a massive contract extension in the off-season.

It doesn't speak volumes. You are reading way too much into the fact that he is listed as a CB at the combine. That is not a reflection of how teams view him.

If I were a guess, there is probably close to an even split among the 32 teams in terms of whether he is viewed as a wide receiver or cornerback at the next level.
