Unexpected
7th rounder found with great scouting
High upside
Did not cost a high draft pick

Lets look for high upside players found in unconventional spots

Do your job Patriots scouting Department

The biggest problem with getting NFL players abroad is that is highly specialized and still niche sport.

There are definitely athletes right now in the world who have the athletiscism to become stars, but impossible to gauge if they have the technical skills to translate that to a football field.

So in the end, those long-longshots are easier to risk if are the top. For every one guy from a different sport with the optimum byotype for the NFL, there is a D2 star who broke all his college records and wouldn't need to understand the game first

This was really where Bill thrived. Some of it was having good coaches under him like Scar to help mold these guys. Finding guys late in the draft, turning around free agents that didn't fit elsewhere, and trading for guys that maybe were a little past prime but still had juice left.

Vrabel should be able to do pretty well in this area. And some of that should start in the form of turning around some in house guys that for obvious reasons struggled last year.

It was a good thing the Eagles didn’t give up on Mailata after he missed his entire rookie season and all but two games of his second season. It can be tough for teams to be patient with developmental prospects, especially one that was only taken in the 7th round. It would be nice for the Pats to find an All-Pro left tackle in the 7th round but that’s an outlier.

I would take Polk and Baker developing and contributing in year Two.

Gotta give Wolf some credit at least he didn't blow the First Round: so we have that going for us this year.

I've noticed over the last few years, that many of the the more solid OT's (such as Alaric Jackson and others) were either low round picks or outright UDFA's. I don't care where we get some stud starting OT's, just so long as we get them!!!

You mean like 6th round pick Joe Milton?

Lets see if they keep him and he develops into an all pro starter.

Eagles found Mailata playing rugby in New Zealand

Milton qb in Tennessee and everyone knew about him

Wolf got 2 QBs one who could possibly net us at least a 3rd rounder back and a 3rd rounder for Judon which is a steal and also 40 million 3 of unused rollover cap that can be used to sign one of 2 impact players for next 3 years.

In addition dell Pettus is turning out to be good and Robinson would become salvageable.

So he's gotten us a franchise QB, a 3rd rounder for 2025 , a left guard on rookie contract and one nice developmental safety whilst not blowing money on useless players like parker or juju and carrying them forward for this year and a potential backup QB who can be a terrific trade piece or backup QB for peanuts for next 3 years which will help save 25 off million over 3 years . In my opinion that's a Strong B.

If Wallace and 1 of baker or Polk develop it's a home run. Where he probably failed was only in free agency .

Hoping it will translate to wins eventually.
The Brissett/Milton combo leads in the "Earned" Wins contest 3-1

Still a good late round find.

And it wasn't a great free agency

Now, now. I mean, NE needs a ____ could become an hour long discussion. This team’s cupboard : bare. Other than QB & CB1, I’d say every position could be considered ‘replaceable’. There are a few pieces you can live with, but very little that are must keepers.
