Rham for jakobi???
I'd do it in a heartbeat. I like Rham too. I do think he can fix the fumbling issue. Hes a good RB but not sure how good he is behind this awful line.

Never should have let Jakobi leave in the 1st place.

Agreed. I like rham too. Yes we know under Vrabel if he continues the fumbling he'll be on the sidelines backing up gibby. Just feels like a great match jakobi didn't want to leave either. Guy catches everything. Yeah this OL marrone has his work cut out for him.

Rham for jakobi???
Why would the Raiders even entertain this when they can find a younger, potentially better RB in the upcoming draft (and a loaded RB class at that) and still keep Jakobi?

It's more on what we want then the Raiders entertaining anything. The Raiders need to get a QB more than anything. But I see your point.

They would entertain it after June 1 because the Raiders can save $11m off the cap and if they still need a vet RB after the draft Rham will cost them only $4m in cash next year.

If the Raiders were in dire need of shaving salary for cap space then I could see that being a benefit to them. However, they have the second most cap space available in the NFL (behind us of course) and given they still need to find a QB, it would be in their best interests to keep Meyers around. He and Bowers are the only proven commodities on the offense right now.

But I suppose if they fall asleep at the wheel and forget to address RB this offseason, that could be an option. I would hope the Pats draft a RB if they’re planning to move Rham (which I’m not convinced that they are).

Exactly. They may just not want to pay Jakobi $14m. That's my hope.

My assumption is TB12 will want to hang on to him.

Your right. He said himself that the transition from rugby was difficult that he even felt like quitting at one point because to learn the OT position was just so difficult. I'm thinking the same thing. Draft and develop OL like the Patriots used too. I'm thinking heading into the season:

New LT, strange LG, Andrews C, Owenu RG, Wallace, LT
They need to throw more resources at both tackle positions. Wallace can't be assumed to be a starter. Bring in like 3 vets and a rookie or two or three. Two positions to fill, throw six prospects at it and let camp competition sort it out.

Yes, but Wallace would be a better option than Jacobs at RT. Owenu needs to remain at RG.

Jordan took two years of pure development and a lot of time to get good enough to play. Luckily for them he was young.

You can’t hope to recreate that. He was too large for rugby so they sent him stateside, this isn’t common.

The better idea is to sign some value vet F/A’s at the OT position and draft a couple… throw the kitchen sink at it.

There is no such thing as too large for Rugby. Too immobile is a problem, but the biggest rugby players run the same size as offensive and defensive linemen in the NFL.

Jacobs is 24, he’s as young as some rookies coming out this year. He’s the same age as Wallace. They’re both prospects with upside who can’t be relied on to start until they prove it.

Why did they send Mailiata to America?

He was big enough, could run and could earn more money here.

The average height of forwards in rugby, the biggest position, is 6’2.” They’re LB sized on average.

Jacobs was starting out of necessity as Wallace was in and out the line up due to injuries. But as you've said acquire as much depth as you can to add to the position. Marrone will have who ever is starting playing sound techniques.

Wallace stunk as bad as Jacobs. We have to allow some for poor coaching and scheme.

The RT tackle position like LT was an objective failure if your tackles can't protect you have no OL or no offense.

Who “ sent him?” Malaya decided to try American football, probably because of the potential earnings. There are plenty of guys his size playing Rugby. Examples:

Bill Cavubati 6’1 364

Open Fanua 6’7 330

Edwin Mata 6’8 313

Did you google “biggest rugby players ever” to come up with this list. These guys are known because they were large outliers and they’re retired. Mailiata was 6’8” 350 pounds, his agents/handlers sent him to America.

But he didn’t stink as bad as your choice for their second round pick, Kingsley Sumataia, who ended up 3rd string in the Chiefs depth chart.

My first choice was Patrick Paul, I also wanted them to sign some free agent linemen worth a damn so the rookies wouldn’t be pressured to start.

But Polk played really well… so good point.
