2025 Draft: WRs

WR Kyle Williams impressed at the Senior Bowl. He was consistently getting open. Not a big guy at 5'10 182 but he is known for his quickness and getting separation in routes. Hopefully he runs well at his pro day because he didn't garner a Combine invite. Could be a value pickup in round 3-4 perhaps? I do like his college numbers too, 2,000+ yards and 20 TDs in 25 starts shows that he was productive against his level of competition.

draft profile:

Hmm his college website puts him at 6' 186. What's his true measurements?

I like how he can make the first guy miss in the open field in these highlights And then he can turn on an extra gear when he beats his man.

He has the potential to be a good no 2. Do you have a list of the combine invites because I haven't seen one.

Here's the news about Kyle Williams not getting an invite. That's really disappointing as I was looking forward to seeing how fast he'd run.

The 5'10", 182 is the correct measurement. One slightly disappointing thing is that his arms are fairly short at 30 5/8". You're right, he has very good acceleration and what looks to me like 4.3" speed. As a really good day 3 value pick he's been a binky for a while.

This is another late round/UDFA guy that I am liking a lot.

I actually was planning to post about him, too! I love that he can get free against press coverage. He's not the fastest, but he can play the X receiver and that's rare coming out of school these days. I like him late.

Been hearing that X. Restrepo would be perfect for Josh’s offence. He’s in the mold of Edelman, Welker, and McConkey. Great short area quickness and competitive over the middle. I’d be ok with him at 39.

Part of the problem with him is that he was in college for 6 years. A UDFA shot in the dark though

This. did you know that Bech was a move TE at LSU before going to TCU. Suggests he has good positional versatility to play in the slot too. He ticks a lot of boxes.

Love Bech, but they really need speed at WR.

It is impossible to properly scout WRs without full access to all-22 tape so all we have to go on is scouting reports, measurables, stats and the eye test. Kyle Williams of Washington State scores well in those areas for me.

6-0, 186lbs
70 receptions for 1200 yds and 14 TDs this season
high 62.5% contested catch rate
One of the best YAC numbers in the class
He's in the top 15 for almost every receiving metric and is on a par with Jack Bech on most of them.
Only negative is 5 drops but that's less than Tet McMillan and Ayomanor and the same as Egbuka and Tre Harris

Scouting Report

His speed, especially with the ball in hand really shows up on his highlights. Interestingly neither Draft Buzz or PFF have him on their big boards but something is off there because he will be at the senior bowl.

The speed on that play at 0:44 is quite something.

I have a concern with guys who have high contested catch rates in college, if they can’t get separation there they will really struggle to get it in the pro’s. I realize there’s a difference between their rate of catching contested balls and the number of passes that are contested.

In terms of value/talent I really like Jalen Royals at the 69/77 spot. 4.3 speed apparently.

There is really strong day 2 talent at WR. That works for the Patriots imo as free agency and the #4 pick should be about the OL and Defensive Front 7.

Do linebackers exist anymore?

CBs and linebackers have been the hardest evaluation for me because I just don't know how to value them when they clearly are a need but not necessarily a major need. Also, without knowing how they'll be utilised in a new defense it's hard to get a read on which linebackers to study.

As for WR, I'm not enamoured and am not that keen on the projected 2nd rounders we're seeing.

Why do I post this? Use this as a way to calibrate your eye to our baseline. As you're looking for prospects at the X receiver spot, ask yourself if you think they'll do better against players like Stingley or Sauce. If you hesitate to answer yes definitively, move on to a different prospect. We need upgrades, not just shots in the dark, IMO.

That said, I've always loved finding sleepers and rooting for the underdogs, so I guess I'm guilty of not following my own advice!

I like this guy, I think this is what Wolf was hoping Polk would be. I am excited for all the people that "know football" to come tell me how bad he is and how he is a #6 WR.

I like Golden and Bech, I’m just afraid Golden will go first round. They may have to move up to get him.
