We should be able to load up on the dl/edge positions this year for sure. If stanley or Alaric Jackson are available to us that plus a stopgap rt should get done in fa. This is the minimum we should do in the trenches, at least 4 substantial moves plus hopefully barmore. That still leaves plenty of room to go after wr help and cb/mlb.

Agreed! Aside for those OTs mentioned Dan Moore is also out there as LT.. he's a more talented version of vederian lowe. Same body type but Moore is a better player. On WR definitely look for a guy in the 3rd and 4th rounds.. I like McDaniels to really develop polk and baker.. really rooting for these guys.. I'm tired of WR bust.

Little iffy on moore. He wasn’t good until this year and fell off towards the end. Wr id try to splurge on tee or trade for someone. Not sure about another flier, you have boutte and douglas likely locks, not sure theyll be able to give up on polk or baker this soon, bourne should be here unless we find at least two proven contributors, remember his last season with josh here. So we dont have too many spots, if we can land one top guy that should be enough for now until we can weed more of these guys out.

WR should be LAST on the list.

With the Pats changing to a 4-3, Single Gap system that focuses on speed at the LB position, the Pats need to add to their corps as none of Jennings, Bentley, or Tavai are equipped for the positions.

They need a back-up to Godchaux with Ekuale being a FA.
I expect White to be one DE.
If Barmore is healthy, I'd expect Barmore to be the other.

If the Pats get Jeffrey Simmons, who is rumored to have asked for a trade, then that would be an amazing front 4. They'd need to just add another DT and DE. A guy like Sweat outside and then Bobby Walker inside along with draft picks.

They have some decent reserves in Roy and Pharms, but they are just that. Reserves.

I'd live to see the Pats steal Zach Baun to be the MLB going forward.

One of Mapu, Dugger, or Peppers is likely moving up to LB as well.

Vrabel has the money to swing for the fences with some of these guys.. Like Baun, Sweat, Justin Reid, etc.

I could easily see the Pats getting back into the play-offs if they can get some of these players to come here.

Yes! Im pretty excited to see what josh can do here. I think just by improving the ot’s we have everything talent wise that he had in 21 plus a way better qb. So just by doing that i think youd see a major improvement

Yeah I know he tailed off.. that whole Steelers team tailed off.. really like Robinson at LT.. under Josh/Marrone/scar.. he should be even better in his 2nd season. If this OL can be coached to league average then that's a huge thing. Anything is better than 32nd. I love tee as well.. however he's a huge investment as we need help in so many other areas.

Dan Moore allowed the most sacks of ANY LT in the league last year. The fact that Pittsburgh is allowing him to walk should tell you everything you need to know about him.

I don’t see how we can’t fill them all so im not waiting on wr IF theres a quality one out there. Its not going to stop us from filling the others. If we don’t botch the first 2 picks we should be able to fill 2 big needs up front at little cap cost. That gives us plenty to spend on ot/cb/mlb, the only thing that would stop us from filling them is if the guys we target don’t want to be here.

With the Myles Garrett trade news, anyone else think the first 3 picks of the draft seem pretty set:

TEN - Cam Ward - The consensus top QB, no amount of smoke/prospect fatigue makes me believe anything else here

CLE - Abdul Carter - They want a QB but Ward is gone, Sanders won't let his kid go there and they need a Garrett replacement

NYG - 100% they are taking a QB to pair with Nabers, it's gonna be Shadeur to NY.

NE - Travis Hunter or Mason Graham

The only curveball I can see is if CLE take Sanders hostage for NY/another team to trade up for.

I would sprint up to the podium to announce Hunter at 4.

I'm thinking Graham or Carter will end up being available to us at 4...

Of course, Randy Moss was 30 when the Pats acquired him and he posted seasons of 1,493, 1,008, and 1,264 yards. And Jerry Rice had seven thousand-yard seasons after he turned thirty. I realize that Moss and Rice are the two greatest receivers of all time, but thirty years in age should not be a hard and fast line. Length and size of contract should also matter.

Kupp is going to be 32 at the start of the season and clearly on the decline and consistently injured. The guy has missed at least 5 games a season since 2021.

BTW, the Pats dumped Moss when he was 33 because he hit the age wall hard and not worth the headache.

I heard Phil Perry on the radio yesterday suggest the Pats use the 4th overall pick on Myles Garrett and a third on Cooper Kupp. WTF?!? Are the Pats a team a few players away from being a Super Bowl contender or a team in the first year of a major rebuild with very little talent on the roster?

Yes! That, And randy didn't want to run slants and not be the premier focus in the offense like he was prior with the emergency of Gronk and Hernandez. Yeah kupp has injury history.. he would be a secondary option and a great guy with championship pedigree in the WR group. Guy has excellent hands.

I am not opposed to getting Kupp, but for nothing more than a conditional 6th rounder (that could turn into a fifth or a fourth) or something like that. Definitely not a second day draft pick.

Not sure if the Rams will even get a trade partner because they likely have to cut him if they cannot trade him. People may just wait unless they are willing to trade him for nothing.

Agreed. I think he can be obtained for say a 5th or 6th.. I think the Rams told him they are going to trade him to field any type of compensation they can get as they know he's missed time last few seasons.

Kelvin Banks, Jr. OT, Texas should be the Patriots first-round selection.

I’m terrible with money, ask my wife, so I’m gonna ask a question about cap space.

How much cap space do you think it would take to sign these 5 guys:
Tee Higgins
Alaric Jackson
Morgan Moses
Levi Onwuzurike
Carlton Davis

100 million???

I guess it would all come down to how much is the guaranteed money committed.

One key difference between this year and last year is the fact the Patriots now at least have what people outside New England feel is a viable option at quarterback, which is a stark contrast to where they were last March. They headed into that previous period with just Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, and had also lost Bill Belichick.
As a result, the impression of this team by potential free agent candidates certainly didn’t feel favorable, given the fact they had a ton of cash and seemingly no one who wanted to take it.
“Listen, it’s hard when you’re bad, and people didn’t know if the quarterback was going to be any good,” said Pelissero. “The good news this year is you’re still bad, but people now know this quarterback is good.”
“Are the Patriots going to have to overpay in free agency? Probably. That’s just the nature of it. But you’re going to have a much better selling point that, ‘Hey, we’re going to pay you a little extra, and you get to play with this dude who, if we can just make this thing competent, has a chance to be really, really good.'”
