Offseason player acquisition thread

A guy like Garrett would be a cornerstone for a rebuild that is worth a big chunk.
If I was CLE I would trade him straight up for Milton - who would be a great QB to take over there.

For us - we need domination back in both DL & OL. If we land one side in FA, then we can draft a top LT and we're off.

Another receiver to consider (not an #1 though) is Christian Kirk. He has a 24 million dollar cap hit in 2025 and most of it is salary. He currently has the highest cap hit on their team for 2025 and could save them $10 million or more towards the cap if cut or traded. He is in the last real year of his contract and they have already added two voidable years to his contract already. That means either they will extend his contract or let him go.

The Jags might be wanting to move on since he has injury prone the last two years (last year was a collar bone and 2023 it was a groin). If he is cut, he might be a good #2 WR. He might be able to be had in a trade for decent value too. The Jags are definitely not going to pay him #1 money with Brian Thomas their clear cut #1 WR.

Would rather trade for a 28 year old Kirk than a 32 year old Kupp.

Great stuff Rob, you actually stole my thunder.. I mentioned the idea of kirk.. as well. Jax is slated to likely release him. I liken his game to Steve Smith Jr. I say there's a good possibility we could end up with both kupp and kirk??..

A third? I dunno. He's right at that "lost a step" age for wide receivers.
Of course, Randy Moss was 30 when the Pats acquired him and he posted seasons of 1,493, 1,008, and 1,264 yards. And Jerry Rice had seven thousand-yard seasons after he turned thirty. I realize that Moss and Rice are the two greatest receivers of all time, but thirty years in age should not be a hard and fast line. Length and size of contract should also matter.

and absolutely none of those players will come to the Pats. Think about it...the Patriots are the worst of the Bengals, Jets, Cardinals teams...who did those teams get in FA? Patriots are the worst team in the league. When has the worst team in the league landed the biggest fish at a skill position in free agency?

Could be a pipe dream but chris olave interests me. Entering the final year of his rookie deal on a rebuilding team that has cap issues. If they decide not to pay up for him could they be looking to get what they can for him before he leaves? Also been hearing the saints as a potential suitor for milton. Would love if we could pull something off like milton plus a 3.

Another WR that I have on my wish list. A young WR that could grow with Drake and be a target for him on the outside. I'm thinking a 4th and maybe another pick next season for him... or the 3rd round we got for judon.. I really want to hold on to JM3.. for now at least.

Guessing hed cost at least a 2nd, hopefully a 2026. That lets us go trenches with #4 and #38. He would really help Drake

Yes!! Even Curran is mentioned that trade is the best way to get a guy for Drake.. I love Carter at #4.. LT in round 2. I wonder a 3rd rounder would get him from NO. I'm pretty sure he rather play with Drake than Spencer rattler.

Yup, gotta hang onto this years 2 as best as we can. Should be able to land a starter there at either ot or dl/edge(depending on whether we get carter or graham first).

Yes. We are projected to take Graham or Carter at #4.. I wonder who Vrabel prefers? Graham is a Aron Donald type presence in the middle as Carter is also a speed demon off the edge.

Would love either. I personally lean carter because i think the need at edge is greater and im not sure about white being able to excel on the edge. Seems much more disruptive inside. Signing an edge in fa and drafting one lets you play him inside , hopefully next to barmore!

This draft seems pretty rich in dl too you should still be able to land a good one at 38 or rd 3

Yeah whites an interior rusher.. he wasn't happy in his role last season. The line of scrimmage is what this draft is about. I've always felt that. Go go wrong with either or.. the interior pressure is what all QBa hate so Graham is just that. Of course pressure on the QB leads to INTS and flipping the field.. I can imagine Carter giving the bills tackles fits.

We should be able to load up on the dl/edge positions this year for sure. If stanley or Alaric Jackson are available to us that plus a stopgap rt should get done in fa. This is the minimum we should do in the trenches, at least 4 substantial moves plus hopefully barmore. That still leaves plenty of room to go after wr help and cb/mlb.

Olave is a VVG player, but because of the uncertainty surrounding his health/desire/ABILITY to get back on the field, I wouldn't spend a lot of resources on him.

Agreed! Aside for those OTs mentioned Dan Moore is also out there as LT.. he's a more talented version of vederian lowe. Same body type but Moore is a better player. On WR definitely look for a guy in the 3rd and 4th rounds.. I like McDaniels to really develop polk and baker.. really rooting for these guys.. I'm tired of WR bust.
