Agreed. Having McDaniels along back as OC is already an upgrade ahead of any we add to the roster. Polk and baker stand be be much more than non-contributing players like last season. I'm alright with adding Cooper if Higgins or Olave for example don't come into fruition. In the NFL teams can morph into a contender quickly. Talent wins in the NFL we have the coaching now it's time to get the talent!

I like Jack Bech as the power slot similar to Puka and Jayden Higgins as the X outside in this draft. I can't see the Pats spending 2 picks on WR in this draft again. Maybe if they get a haul for the #4. Polk will be better. He can't possibly be worse. I suspect that if Josh says cut and flush him, we do it and lick our wounds. Javon Baker has so much raw talent, but can be a headcase. I wonder if Josh can reach him. I think your point is right: trade for a good WR and draft one.

Thank you for your input. My objection with the the current group is toughness. Boutte and Pop back away from contact (catching - not blocking). They don't go for the ball like today's receivers. Julian and Amendola always believed the ball was always theirs, and these guys just don't.

Bourne drops too many passes. As a 49er follower, that's why they dumped him. He might put up average stats for a bad #2, but he will be like a RB who fumbles too much (which is also a problem on this team).

Josh can find all the roles he wants and things will be better. But as long as these issues exist, Pop/Boutte/Bourne do not have what it takes to be core #1/2 WR's on a top team.

Of course, things can change, but these issues aren't really about teaching or system. You are either a beast or you are not.

You are not wrong. Our WR room is a result of bad coaches. They are a bunch of drama queens and divas and none have come close to earning it. At least the top divas in the league can show it on the field. But that all changes with Vrabel and McD. It has to improve significantly.

I'd trade him for Polk right now. Kupp is an invaluable vet who has won everything.
Bourne, Pop, Kupp, Boutte and then draft our speed/big play kid to develop. (and if Polk can be fixed, than fine)
JMD can win with that.

Got it! Thanks for the information. It just makes me curious as to if we possibly have already contacted teams on potential trade possibilities..
It's hard to say how active they've been with the change in leadership, but trade calls happen all the time. Reports have the Pats receiving calls on Joe Milton already.

Right now I'm sure it's Wolf just making notes. "Okay, I've received calls from X, X, X and X" about Milton. So they know who might be interested once they decide his value and if he's available for trade.

I'd hold on to JM3.. we all love maye daye.. but he has had 2 concussions already. Develop JM3 another year under McDaniels and his trade value Will be through the roof.

Agreed now we are talking.. Polk and baker.. for example Polk guy was playing with confidence in training camp and in preseason. The worst thing I believe that happened to Polk is having to play with Brissett to start the season. These guys are 2nd and 4th round draft picks I'm sure Vrabel wants these guys to be developed correctly into contributing players. Kupp is the guy we trade for and we draft another WR in the 3rd or 4th round .
.

Operating under the assumption that the Rams would eat some money, and he would only cost a mid- to late-round pick, I wouldn't hate it. Honestly, though, I wouldn't look at Kupp as anything more than a one-year rental, so it shouldn't really change the draft or free agency approach. Having an actual adult in the room who knows how to run routes, get open, and knows what it takes to win in the league would be helpful in my opinion.

100% agree, but for how much?

Somebody please pass this on to Albert Beer... opinions are like @ssholes everybody got one. On Tee Higgins not coming here that Beer's opinion: you can tell he had a few.
You know I agree with Breer on this one. You've put all your eggs in this basket. Have a plan B, otherwise you'll be ...

Kupp is set to make $20 million with a $12.5 million base salary and a $7.5 million roster bonus. Since it is unlikely a team that trades for him will pay him $20 million a year based on his recent track record, I would think the Rams either eat a chunk of that money or they release him and owe him $5 million. He may end up getting released if they can't agree on a trade, so at that point, I doubt he would want to come here at 32 years old to a rebuilding team. Even if we gave LA a late-round pick and paid him his $12.5 million base, I wouldn't be mad. We have room, and the receiver room needs a revamp.

Chargers makes sense because it's in LA, but he is redundant to McConkey.

I'm surprised Green Bay, Miami or SF aren't even on the list. He's not a go to guy anymore, so I see him going to a contender who already has other receivers in place.

Or, look out for the Chiefs.

I think he’s on the wrong side of 30 but if he’ll restructure it wouldn’t hurt to have a veteran presence in the WR corps. He’ll be dealt to the Chiefs for a mid-round pick, he won’t want to come here if he’s serious about rings.

He's 32 and had some injuries. I don't think he needs to restructure thought. His contracts numbers aren't prohibitive for a guy that would be expected to be the top target here.

His cap numbers would be 20M this year and 19.3M in 2026. With ZERO liability if they cut him in 2026..

If you restructure the deal, you will end up with dead money if you cut him. No reason to do that.

Think the Rams can't cut him.....the dead cap hit would be devasting.

A pre-June 1 trade saves them 12.52M this year. Cutting him saves them only $5M as mentioned.

I think that a 6th rounder would do it.

No reason to financially, but you could pay him out $20M as a signing bonus this year to make him happy. Same amount of money but he’s gonna get it all up front. Your cap # this year goes down by about half. You do pick up $10M in dead money in 2026 if he was cut but you’re probably not trading for him if you’re worried he’s only got 1 year left. Would be useful for Drake’s development.
