Triumphant Return of the Full Back

Andrews is probably better as a backup at this point. Strange did a nice job stepping in at center, after a year off. Depending on who is available at G, he is a good option at C. Keep Andrews around as depth and his locker room presence.
Anything done with the OL last year should be thrown out the window because we are starting over from scratch. Every decision they made on the OL was terrible, so because we did it last year doesn’t apply.

Hypothetical....if at #4 Graham, Carter, and Hunter are gone and they don't want Campbell (for whatever reason) trading down and picking up Tyler Warren and another player (WR, DT, OT) wouldn't be the worst decision in the world.
At one time h-backs were a big thing, i don't hear the term any longer, so in regards to ty warren being 6'6 260 falls under the parameters for being an h-back. Hes more of a gronk tight end. I think h-backs were smaller,''tweeners'' to big to be a full back but to small to be a tight end.

Size-wise I agree but hes not the inline blocker a guy like Gronk (most in NFL history aren't) but hes a good "move" blocker.

Warren lined up all over the field at Penn State which is why I kinda throw him in the h-back bucket.

All I know is our offense was always better with a fullback through the years.
Everyone's yapping about wrs but quality
tes and fbs create more mismatched and do more for your offense than even tge best wrs.
When Gronk was healthy he was more valuable than any wr in history. Period.
But a healthy Gronk + Develin was just unfair to defenses with Brady

Just remembered that Arron Hernandez was referred to as an H-back, back in the day. 6'1 245

Noted, not sure that it invalidates the fact that Strange looked ok at center. A fullback lead running game is oriented around running over the opponent that would not necessarily be a good fit for Strange at G. Center would be a better fit for him in that kind of offense.

I'm on the fence with Rham. Another year older for a power back that usually don't last in the league more than 5 years (this will be year 4 for him). Plus the 7 fumbles last year is a concern. I am good with penciling him in at RB#1 but I think they should snag a possible replacement in the draft and bring them along the same way he is brought along to replace Harris as the featured back.

This draft is supposed to be loaded at RB.

RB's are inexpensive NFL commodities. If we need one or two, then just hire who you need.

With regard to fullback, the draft is NOT the way to find one. An NFL fullback need to be primarily a top-quality blocker a receiver. There are not the qualities of many college RB's or FB's.

There are a couple kids (RB) who are not coming out this year that are the typical size of a fullback 6'1-6'3 240-260 that will be worth keeping an eye on as a potential 5th or 6th rounder as they are not going to be highly recruited to come into the league as a RB but could transition to FB or TE.

Patrick Ricard is an upcoming free agent and the Ravens will have some tough cap decisions to make. I know they want to keep him and he wants to return, but we have an enormous amount of cap space and maybe we could make him an offer he can’t refuse?

I know $5mil a year for a fullback isn’t the ideal allocation of resources, but with so much money available are we really going to find a better use for it? Depending on how much Josh wants to integrate a FB into the offence, getting one of the two best players at the position in the NFL is never a bad thing

after reading all the posts, I am still not convinced.
the production from a player like Ricard, last season, was almost zero. granted, he blocked really well. but can't Sow do as well?
unless the player is outstanding on ST play, I would prefer a TE or OL converting to FB when needed.

do you think they will roster a FB? or do you think they will have a handful of plays that the FB position is utilized, but from a player that plays other positions?

Too early to know for sure, but remember why BB never saved a roster spot by having someone do double duty at LS: you can't practice with two different units at the same time.

Are you asking if a guy who played on our line last season can block well?

Bill used to say that Delvin brought toughness to the offense.

It doesn't have to be an offensive player. It needs to be someone who is a thumper who likes to violently crash into others. If they have decent hands to it would be a plus for some screen passes. On the Pats Peppers would be that guy if he were bigger. Ravens have Patrick Ricard who was a defensive end in college but is a FB for them 6'3 311 lbs and is very athletic for someone that size.

He’s going to be a free agent this off-season.

Sam Gash is my all time favorite FB. Why Grier let him walk after 1997 is still a mystery.

Devlin is 2nd. Aside from him taking out his own player (Jeremey Hill), he had his best season clearing lanes for Sony Michel.
Sam Gash is my fave all time FB too. My second favorite is Keith Byars
