Eagles Offense, How did Roseman do it?

We were pissed that the Pats went on a 10 year drought, yet the Eagles and Roseman are praised for winning one Super Bowl in 14 years. In fact, the only reason why they are back in the Super Bowl was because both SF and Detroit imploded. They will come back down to earth when both teams regroup.

He’s a good GM, but not great as the Eagles have been up and down since he’s been the GM.

Shrug. I think that's what success in the NFL looks like--winning one Super Bowl, getting to a couple others and just generally being competitive. The Patriots (during our run) and the Chiefs now are the outliers of insane amounts of success.

And if you connect a few more dots, as the OL got worse, Mac got worse. As Mac got worse, Bill got fired.

But in truth Mac Jones doesn’t have the arm or the mental and emotional toughness to be a quarterback in the NFL. There was a stat from Jagsonville late in the season when he was starting where hadn’t completed one pass over 20 yards, and had 6 interceptions, and 10 Blue Tent worthy cries during that time.

I'm not saying Mac is a good QB, but it's hard not to see that he played much worse as his OL got worse. I think he's just broken now.

If Jones survives in the NFL long enough, he may finally find a place where he can at least rediscover the spark he had his rookie year. Jacksonville was another miserable situation with a poor offensive line, and mediocre tools.

Jones should go to either rams or 49ers. Best places to learn.

Agreed. How do we fix the problem?

1. Fire Wolf and Groh
2. Stop trading down
Yes on 2 for sure unless your getting future 1’s.

1 is tough, it only takes a 2 picks to throw this off.
Lengthy list to go thru it all but it’s definitely overblown saying they are terrible drafters but very complicated to actually analyze them and conclude anything at 100%.
With Vrabel and his team we will see how 2025 goes, cautiously optimistic.

There’s no doubt that he played worse under pressure, but he doesn’t have an NFL arm. His downfield passes die and get either intercepted or broken up.

It’s not going to matter, he’s not an NFL QB. He should retire to his car dealership.

Interesting that Breer said Pats scouts loved McDuffie but BB decided to trade down and take Strange.
Add this to the other reports that BB took TT over scouts preference of Pickens and just those 2 changed completely changes Patriots success rates and makes them a good drafting team analytically.

Really baffling. Especially when you consider corner is much harder to fill than guard (which you can sometimes find quality players in FA, corner not so much).

BB let Thuney walk, might have been trying to fill the void? Also wonder if they took McDuffie would they have taken Gonzalez the year after

Hurts- 2nd round draft pick
Saquon Barkley -UFA signing
AJ Brown- trade with Titans
Devonta Smith- 1st round draft pick (10th)...consequence of Carson went trade)
Goedart- 2nd Round draft pick
Jordan Mailllata- 7th round pick, scouted him as New Zealand rigby player
****erson- 2nd Rounder (#44) Draft pick
Jurgens 2nd Rounder (#51) Draft pick
Bekhton-UFA from Jets (first rounder)
Lane Johnson-first round draft pick, 4th overall

In short he did everything right, Everything that BB and Wolf have done wrong
1, shrewd drafting; 4 2nd rounders, 2 first rounders
2, Great UFA pick ups- 2 former high first rounders
3. Great scouting- Jordan Maillata was a 7th rounder that the Eagles had scouted as a rugby player he is now a dominant OL

How about Pats last year how did they acquire their players?

Maye- draft pick, high first rounder (3)
Stevenson- fourth round draft pick
Demario Douglas- 6th round draft pick
Boutte- 6th round draft pick
Bourne- UFA, undrafted
Henry- UFA, 2nd rounder (35)
Lowe- trade (6th rounder)
Robinsonn 4th round draft pick
Strange first round draft pick
Onwenu 6th round draft pick (182)
Jacobs- waivers

Draft picks- 2 first rounder, 1 fourth rounder, 4 6th rounders
Waivers- 1 crappy OT
trade- i bad OT,
UFA- 1 2nd round UFA good but not great TE, 1 undrafted UFA mediocre wide receiver

bottom line, Howie had 6 outstanding draft picks in first and 2nd round compared with 2 for Patriots, Howie made a shrewd trade for an impact player AJ Brown, Pats made a trade for Vederian Lowe
Roseman made brilliant high profile UFA signings at key positions- Barkley and Bekhton
Great scouting took a risk in 7th round on a player with an incredibly high ceiling and it paisd off

Howie has drafted incredibly well in rounds day 1 and 2 and rewarded with elite players, BB and Wolfe have had numerous early round failures and are forced to play 6th round draft picks with low ceilings, Howie nailed his UFA signings...Pats have failed.

I hope Eliott becomes like Howie but he needs to take on more risk and go for homers.
.
WOW your grapes are sour, Sam.

You also put on your 20/20 hindsight glasses on again. In your rant didn't you happen to notice that over our 20 years of excellence, BB could point out just as many great first and 2nd rounders out of the end of round spots. Many guys like Neal and Edelman Jones, Jones and other starters not named Jones who came from UDFA lists. Just like Roseman did (and every other superbowl winning GM has done over the years. I guess it was a coincidence with Howie. Why couldn't we. Or think about all the FA's who came along for a Championship run.

Roseman has been with the Eagles for 25 years now, in various administrative and personnel positions. By and large he's done a really good job, but you don't have as many fan clubs started for you when you sign your QB to the worst (at the time) contract in history as you do when they win the Superbowl.

Ebb and flo, Sam. GMs do good things and bad ones. You just try and do more of them right in some of the years. One of those conversations I'm going to have with Bill on Nantucket one day will be the one about how the **** did he become such a poor talent evaluator at the end of his run. The other will be about the possible use of Deleaware WingT concepts on NFL strategy in the future. The great Tubby Raymond was a Genius

Eagles could easily win 3 straight.

Hearing they are going all in on Garrett . They can actually give this years first for Garrett and absorb his cap for next 3 years which means they could then reset in 2028 or 2029. Scary though.

Eagles will be an afterthought next season.

I expected him to be so much better when he told a reporter who asked him what he had done to get better in his first offseason, and Mac said he hadn’t eaten as much ice cream. To sacrifice so much and not improve was so heartbreaking. He must have realized then that no amount of effort or commitment would ever change anything.
