- McDaniels: probably not ever leaving for another HC opportunity
- Brown: has had some OC chances that didn't work, so will likely stick as a position coach for a little while
- Marrone: seems to be content working specifically in the trenches at this point in his life, doesn't seem like a flight risk

Several guys with reasons why they probably won't leave anytime soon. Good for Maye and the other young guys. WR coach is still an unknown.
Yep and maybe at some point TW gets a shot at HC...which would only mean we have a top 10 unit.

I am glad the Patriots are finally following the trend of having coordinators for both the passing and running game. You see a lot of the best offenses doing this. You have one guy dedicated to each discipline allowing the OC to almost as like a head coach for that side of the ball.

Troy Brown: Patriots used to want to punch Mike Vrabel in the face

FOXBOROUGH - Troy Brown, who was a spectator at Mike Vrabel’s introductory press conference on Monday, played with the three-time Super Bowl winner during the Patriots early dynasty years.

"That’s why he’s Mike Vrabel,” said Brown, who has been a member of the Patriots coaching staff since 2020. “He was the same way as a player even though back then, we wanted to punch him in the face a few times when he was on defense. If you ever showed signs of breaking, he would finish breaking you.”

"He earned everything he got. He earned this moment too,” Brown said. “(His past) shaped him. He’s talking about building players, building coaches, that’s the correct message to deliver for a head coach in his introduction speech to the team. People should be excited.”

"If you ever showed signs of breaking, he would finish breaking you" is a pretty hardcore statement

By that I'm hoping you don't mean Gibson will be forgotten when it matters most
Gibson "gibby " will be etched in our memories from week 1 under McDaniels

Great hire.

But... the reason why he bounces around and can't seem to elevate is that he is not a great person. I think of him as the biggest curmudgeon in football. He makes Belichick look like Mr. Rogers. He makes Bill Parcells look like Robin Williams.

I’m not doubting you or anything but got proof? A friends asking..

While none us know him, from what I gather from current/fmr players, coaches, etc it seems Vrabel is very binary in his assessments of people. You are either on his team or you are not. If you are, it's a way hes comfortable with AFTER hes pressure tested you. Could be physical. Could be mental. I forget who it was but they said Vrabel and TB12 would engage in small-arms psychological warfare every practice....

Lets face it. Mayo was soft. BB got soft at the end.

My gut tells me there are going to be some surprising names that are not going to be on this team come Sept.

This is a legit staff. Still not excited about McDaniels, but this is at it's absolute worst a very competent coaching staff and at it's best a potential powerhouse.

The personnel is now the priority.
If Vrabel goes this hard in free agency then we will all be gitty

I'm calling it right now: I'm going to climax when we get Tee Higgins and Ronnie Stanley...*excuse me Ladies*.

Anyone think that Vrabel and this staff will be a draw for FAs as much as Maye is?

Certainly driven players who want to be coached hard and win will gravitate to the Pats.

Keion White should thrive in this setting, and I expect players like Trent Brown won’t want to come here, let alone stay here.

I live in Buffalo. I heard him speak weekly. His relationship with the players was legendary. As in... abysmal. His arrogance dwarfed Belichick's. Saint Doug. That was his nickname up here.

That being said, every single person who ever spoke about him said he was a tremendous coach. I describe him as very much like Vrabel and Belichick but with less of a personality.

Marrone once told people openly (by openly, I mean, like, at the podium during a press conference) that he was the best coach in the NFL and that they didn't know what they had in him.

Read this: NY Jets interview Doug Marrone, and with Bills, the ‘average’ ex-coach rubbed many in organization the wrong way

He was angling for the Jets job WHILE he was coaching the Bills, and people believe it was because Pegula took over as the new owner. But then the NY Daily News published the article above that said his own coaching staff hated him because he constantly belittled them and that he was a control freak and a phony. One of those assistants got on the radio and let loose against Marrone after the assistant was fired. On the radio, they said that the source behind the attack on Marrone was an ex-GM who had Woody Johnson's ear, but no one knows.

I think his downfall is that unlike Belichick, Marrone has a really thin skin, and he wanted to be appreciated. He grew up poor in the Bronx. He hated criticism. But was eager to deliver criticism. So, kind of old school, but he has his antennas up for any criticism.

Clearly the player deserves blame because they are the ones fumbling but coaching is a big part of it. Technique, emphasis, drills, concentration...

Not starting someone doesn't fix the issue if the player needs more coaching.
It is always easier to scapegoat Mayo for anything and everything..
That seems to be a tendency on this and just about any other message board..

See?

He wasn’t just a Rooney rule interview.

Good coaches will get hired. There is no need for the Rooney rule.

In fact, the Rooney rule is counterproductive.
Maybe but this case shows that it works. Vrabel learned all about Brown cause the Rooney rule led to the interview for the OC job.
