Was reading about Bobby Slowik getting let go in Houston... one note of interest that came up was that the Texans let go of their OL coach, Chris Strausser, and that the Asst. OL coach, Cole Popovichs contract has expired...

We all know Popovich from his time here... any interest in bringing either of these guys in? do they have any ties to Vrabel that anyone knows of?

Or, if you have a good candidate, i'd like to know...

Its important we get the line headed in the right direction this year... starts with the coach...

The OL coach in Tenn the year Vrabel got fired was Jason Houghtaling
He is a asst OLine coach with the Bears now
Maybe they give him a promotion back to OLine coach

If they are letting Josh choose
Joe Philbin was his OLine coach the year he got fired
He is still the OLine coach of LV
Pete may want his guy which would free up Philbin

Apparently Doug Marrone is joining the team (unconfirmed), he may be OL coach?

Josh worked with Popovich in 2020, when he and Carmine Bricillo coached the OL... Might be a good fit...

maybe this spot is taking forever because they are waiting for the right guy to shake free

He just spent a year with O'Brien at BC so there's a connection.

I haven't a clue Pape. I'm given to understand that truly Elite or even Solid OL Coaches are not in abundance. I would think that looking at a major college program that has consistently produced solid OL talent would be a place to look. Wisconsin has produced quite a decent number of quality OL Players the last 20 years. There are other programs out there that have produced solid OL talent and solid OL's.

I’m not a fan of Popovich. The anti-vax issue is too much for me to swallow. TB12 and his guru are gone; don’t let another witch doctor controversy into the building.

Don’t know about Strausser but if he was OL coach with Popovich as his assistant I’d think he’d be worth considering.

So, Houghtaling was OL coach with the Titans, took a step down with the Bears. Why do we think that makes him the best choice? Are the Bears keeping his boss, or should he be on our list?

Just looking back on who Vrabel or McDaniels have a history with since that seems to be the theme
Have not looked into them as far as success
Just that they coached as OLine coaches for Vrabel and McDaniels respectively
There has been no leaks on the OLine situation
Just starting a narrative

Strausser has been with the broncos, colts and last year in h-town

BRING BACK GOOGS!
<JK>

Googs had a tale of two seasons.

2014 the line was a mess and eventually came together enough to win a Super Bowl.

2015 also had a bunch of injuries but even the vets caved. Didn't play Andrews. Moved Cannon to guard. Jesus.

This hire is crucial, it’s at least the 4th straight season that a new OL coach is coming in. A bad combination with the talent level here.

Make Marrone an offer he can’t refuse.

Wasn't a Googs fan, maybe missed Scar too much.
