Here you explicitly link substance use as causal to DV

Here you try to obfuscate your claim of causality, in response to my pointing out that correlation is not causation. And you threw in the underlined extraneous comment just to muddy the waters.

It’s not about every case, it’s not whether it’s involved, the point is that the use of one or more substances is not clearly causal, that’s just your assumption. Or more accurately, your assertion for rhetorical purposes. Unfortunately since it’s a specious assertion it just undermines your rhetoric.

Per RKK, it won't be here
I know that if that's true, you and I are not the type of people to say "I told you so!" And to certainly not gloat.

Vrabel also emphasized a “clean slate” so I tend to feel the opposite. If he gets off on the DV I would guess Vrabel gives him a chance as long as he commits to staying on the straight and narrow going forward.
I don't know anything about your justice system, but if he is found not guilty of the DV and fined for the cocaine. Then I would think he plays on.

But, the trial is underway. Sure, he could, but I don’t think a palatable deal is on the table. He’s dumb: the only reason this went to trial is that he refused to pay her 200k or so to change her mind about testifying, and now his career is on the line.
Oh sorry, I didn’t realize it was so far along. Yeah, what a maroon.

Without a doubt going to court is the riskier path. In affairs of the heart emotions are often more important than logic. From the beginning Peppers said that the girlfriend was trying to extort money. He probably looks at this as needing clear his name on the DV charges. Or it could be as simple as him being spiteful to ensure that she does not get any money for putting him through the ringer.

Pretty sure Bias was smoking coke, and probably a lot of it.
I've done all this ****, my heart used to pump violently when I smoked it, but it was so awesome I did it anyway.
I don't even know anything about it today, it was 35-40 years ago.
If they found coke in Peppers wallet, it was probably a gram or less, which is nothing.
Around that same time, about 40 years ago, I tried coke once. I played poker with a guy who sold it and I decided to try it. I paid $25 for a small pack of it and I think I made a mistake by snorting all of it at once. It made my heart beat so hard that it scared the **** out of me. I never did it again.
The guy who sold it to me died at 42 of a brain aneurism a year or two later. He was one of many coke users who've died during my lifetime.

I was joking. Its not a moral question for me. Its just I would like to have players that are reliable. Coke user does not scream out “You can count on me”
I’m thinking Vrabel may just cut ties with him anyways especially if he admits or is found guilty of DV.

If he didn't do what she claims why should he pay her just to move on?
For the same reason anyone settles when he's done nothing wrong: you never know what's going to happen in court. You never know what the jury will be like. Sometimes the stakes are so high it's better to spend some money to make it all go away. Peppers has his career at stake, and even 500k won't make much of a dent in the bank account. Settle, no admission of fault, she stops talking, all is well and he is back to playing football.

I think you're right. His decisions are being driven by emotion, and the cooler heads of his lawyers did not prevail. He may be 100% in the right here and she's an extortionist, but he needs to take his lumps, learn his lesson, and hang out with a higher class of woman. With his kind of money, if he uses his head and takes advantage of his connections, he'll have more good prospects than he can shake a stick at.

Now, he and his team may still pull this off. He actually decided to testify, which is risky, but he really has no choice because it is literally his word versus hers -- the physical evidence seems thin.

This! There's nothing morally wrong with doing coke. Let Nancy Reagan time go. There is something morally wrong with hurting someone else unless in self defense.

Who says he was doing the coke?

Might have had it for her.....pretty well established that she was, of.....poor character

Maybe he just had the coke for her to do when she came over....
How was it established that she is of poor character? I’ve read nothing about her so I don’t know if this is fact or assumption.

Your morals are not everyone’s morals.

Cocaine is terrible for the body. It can cause heart attacks, strokes, aortic dissection, neurotoxicity, seizures, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary damage, bowel ischemia, addiction, mood disorders and other awful things.

And it’s not done in isolation. Its use impacts family and friends, and often more people get hooked because cocaine is done in group settings at times. I think it’s immoral.

when initial reports came out she was portrayed as a party girl, someone peppers knew he shouldn't be spending time with......believe the phrase 'known to police' was also used - that she wasn't really a girlfriend at this point, she'd just come over after she was out drinking

The original reports indicated the dispute started because he wouldn't have unprotected sex with her. Regardless of how things turn out, I hope he learned some hard life lessons as a result of this situation.

Her story is he got mad about other guys calling her while they were hanging out.
I’m sorry her story makes more sense.
