Did...did you not watch Gibson play last season?
I don't agree that you watched any games based on your reply. He was utilized as an alternate to Stevenson. He was not used as a dedicated third down back. Besides I mostly listened on the radio.

I simply must not remember it.
Dante was there. It’s been awhile though.

All of these offensive systems merge into one another anyway.

I love this hire. And I really don't get all the hate that Josh gets on this board. He is known for scheming guys open and that's literally exactly what we need.
We need some good roster moves and hopefully a couple turn into difference makers

I'm good with it. Smart guy. Great OC, bad head coach. hopefully he is content to get comfortable and stay a while and we have some continuity. Strikes me that he'll do what's best for Drake over forcing his system on him.

So… McDaniels is worse than everyone else available? It’s an incredibly small list of people I’m guessing . He’s not going anywhere after this , at least not for awhile ? Has a couple of them big trophies .. coached a couple of ok players. I’m sure he’ll do ok ?
I do see an advantage there, that there is a zero percent chance he gets hired as a head coach elsewhere ever again.

I wouldn’t say Zero, but I think where he is at and 2 failed HC attempts I think it would take alot for him to leave.
Like Coaching a top 10 Qb on top of being a HC,

Nothing here makes sense. First, they hire AP without interviewing anyone else. Then don't pay KK- or he decides last minute to bail- but either way Pierce has a bad OC. Then they don't take a QB and roll with the worst QB room in the league. Then they keep AP twisting in the wind for about 4 days, only to fire him. Then wait another three days to can TT all to make the team more attractive to a guy they were never getting. Now the choices are ancient Pete, ****ty Spags, failed Saleh. The coaching fraternity is a small one, and I just don't see why any competent HC/GM comes here. Working here will destroy a reputation, all while chicken ass Mark Davis hides behind his new shining toy, Brady while Rome burns.

It's the terminology I'm worried about. Every rookie from this year has no idea about the EP verbiage. And while that doesn't sound like a big deal, it's time that will be wasted, when they could be working on the playbook.

Don't think so soft.

Look around the league. The QB's that are there year after year are the best. The cream finds its way.

If Drake Maye is truly a championship QB, Josh McDaniel's is enough to bring him home, and the worrying about this is nonsense.

Franchise is stuck in the past. This was the exact thing I was afraid of when Kraft rushed to hire Vrabel. They should have just kept Belichick at this rate.

I just don't care if its 2025 or 1925...Josh is a good coach. You don't have 6 super bowl rings by accident (4 of those years he was either QB coach or OC). He is arguably the best OC the Patriots have ever had. He's not even 50 yo and doubtful he's going to be a HC any time soon.

He's never been good without Bill Belichick holding the leash. He was a disaster everywhere he's been besides here. And not just a disaster, a total headcase on a powertrip that nobody could stand and he got rushed out of the building. This extends to his terrible OC stint in STL.

He doesn't have 6 rings by accident because it wasn't an accident that he was under the GOAT coach and had the GOAT QB. Both guys won without him playing a major role at points (Brady his first two rings and his Tampa ring, Bill his first two rings, and the team continuing to contend when he was gone).

Also the kicker was that in his last two HC stints his big issue was pulling a Flores and treating the franchise QB like **** and discarding him because he wanted to big league him and act like because he coached Tom Brady he walked on water. If the offense doesn't take off, you'll hear chirps all of a sudden that Maye is the problem and that Josh isn't sold on him.

They'll probably end up with a ****ty coach but in turn they'll have a ****ty record for the next year or two that will put them in position to draft a QB that's attractive to a real candidate coming in.

Couldn’t Josh change the terminology to more of an west coast verbiage if it was really needed?

Also let’s see what happens to AVP, Macadoo, and McCartney.
I’m sure that Vrabel got good reports from Stefanski.
But then again he did can Peter’s.
Yes he could take some of his passing concepts such as levels and use WC language with it.

He's a tool for Vrabel to use I think Vrabel will know when to let the leash out and when to hold it back. Obviously no one is going to compare Vrabel and Maye to Bill and Brady but it's also a completely different situation then the other ones Josh has dealt with and I think this all seems like a very good match for all involved.

Now go fix the roster and LFG!

Have to give you props for this one Love the JJ, Raider Nation pain is always delightful. They have been so bad for so long that putting them on my list of teams I hate never even occurred to me.

However things could always be worse, they could have Aaron Rodgers calling all the shots. That would really SUCK!

Drake Maye looked like he's going to be a good QB.

McDaniels has a good track record as an OC. He's only 48 and probably won't ever get a HC gig again. Likely a career OC from this point forward now.

Vrabel showed some good stuff as HC in TEN. It flamed out, but it's not like he was some terrible failure in that.

Of course all of them could flop, but it's not baseless to think we've locked in good QB play and coaching on both sides of the ball for the next 5-10 years. If they figure out the personnel side of things, I think they have a very good chance of turning this thing around. It won't matter unless they start getting better players, but it feels like they have QB play/coaching in place that will allow them to be good if they do.

It seems a bit desperate/weak to just keep chasing guys with ties to the dynasty era, but both Vrabel/McDaniels are very qualified for these roles.

Tough to say exactly who because that depends on where their pick lands and all that. But seems a pretty good bet that they'll be terrible again if they hire a lame duck coach and that will put them in position to draft a promising QB coach.

And it's a different situation than what we drafted Maye into because they have some decent foundational pieces in place from good drafting on the rest of the roster (and tons of cap space too). If and when they suck enough to get a good pick, they should be a pretty attractive coaching destination. I can see a HOU situation where they sucked and had a couple of one-year lame duck coaches until they got a pick high enough to take a QB (Stroud) which made them a good spot for a coach to come in and turn around quickly if him and the QB they take can hack it.
