Minihane FWIW. I trust him more now after the scoop about Glazer

If he's right again it means we still have a rat in the building. I want it flushed out by all the most unnecessarily ruthless means imaginable.

Pats will sign Bolden for no particular reason..,

Theoretically someone could also have specifically approved of leaking to Minihane in order to disrupt the balance of power in the local media market. Suddenly the guys "in the know" the last few years are out of the loop and this other dude with no track record is breaking scoops.

Feels like a Vrabel thing to do. But also admittedly very conspiratorial.

Vrabel: "I wanna hire McDaniels"

People on Twitter: "No you fool! Don't just hire some guy you know, you gotta do a thorough search and talk to some young offensive guys! Get ideas and info from them first before you hire your original pick!"

Vrabel: "I've talked to 3 pretty young guys, a couple with prior OC stints and one up-and-comer in MIN, I got some valuable info and ideas from them. Okay now I'm gonna hire McDaniels"

People on Twitter: "We're mad regardless"
I liked Josh as OC here, thought he did well with Cassel, Cam, Mac, plus devising the Brissett game plan against Houston in 2016. He definitely won’t be poached as a HC candidate, he’ll be here long term, so that’s a plus.

The minuses are whether he’s truly a creative mind at this point - certainly better than AVP but if there are other new thoughts and approaches that are better. The biggest issue though is the EP system issue versus West Coast. Drake will have to spend time learning the new language this offseason instead of solely focusing on his skills. And he’ll need to worry about making the right option reads and us getting receivers that can do the same. Not saying he can’t do that — he seems very football smart and cleaned up his footwork quickly — but that’s just adding something to his plate that he doesn’t necessarily need. And we need to worry again about whether we can find wideouts who understand option reads the way Drake does. Now, we need to find new wide outs anyway, of course…. But it seems like the pool of players gets more limited. If it works though the results could be great.

Maybe they get assistants from the Vikings or the Rams to add some creativity to McDaniels arsenal.

Personally I like the idea of running a scheme that is not the same as what most other teams run these days. It forces defenses to have to spend more time game planning for what you do. Josh has also shown an ability to adapt and change what his offense does week-to-week which was something Vrabel said he wants to emphasize. Additionally, I think this lets the team get some extra value in targeting types of players that might be less ideal fits in the common West Coast schemes. Finally, Josh's offense has an ability to reach a higher ceiling if the QB has the mental capability, which I think Drake has - and also can squeeze production out of less talented WRs if they have the IQ. That said - year 1 would be fairly vanilla, so I don't think we'd see all of that come to fruition right away.

I’m sure MacDaniels could learn how to run a West Coast offense, but in general I think these guys believe in the system they run and don’t want to change it. By sticking with EP MacDaniels has seriously limited his options in the Pro’s, as the vast majority of teams don’t want to run it anymore. I think MacDaniels will end up following Belichick’s lead and take a head coaching job at a college program for his next job.
„Anymore“ ……. Pardon; but were there ever more than 3 out of 32 teams running Earheart-Perkins?

I seem to recall that in the 2000s Pats were the only one.

Agree it ain’t popular now; but just don’t think it ever was either.

Conspiracy theorist if McDaniels is announced as OC then Vrabel can’t interview these other offensive minds and see if he can’t poach them for other roles.

Well, you do have a flair for the dramatic, entertaining various scenarios. Please keep up the good work

Well, at one point in his career McDaniels was on the Rams coaching staff, so they could both be right!

I know Minihane got the Robyn Glazer thing first (although other claimed they heard the same thing, but didn't report it because they didn't know if it was true), but I am not sure I would trust him as the scooper on who will be selected.

Well, Curran's source is done. He's got Phil helping him, but it does feel like they just want to go in a direction that's not the "norm". No Rapsheet, no Shefty.... If Minihane wasn't such a turd it would be more fun. Maybe he's Vrabel's kind of a**hole.

Well, he wasn't 100% spot-on about Glaser but directionally he down the right path. (still in the building)

Agree- Hes on probation, but I lean towards believing him. If true i'm kinda surprised it's Josh.

If it’s true I hate this decision. I’m not going to ***** about it, but I hate it.

Didn’t Rapsheet the one who broke the news that Vrabel was keeping Springer?
