The change explains the difference in how Vicks stats versus Lamar’s. I’d also say Harbaugh did a better job tailoring the offense around Lamar than Vicks coaches did with him, he was just thrown into a pro style offense and expected to change to fit it. Lamar can’t win from the pocket in the playoffs, if he could have he would have already. He can only beat the wildcard teams… the lesser defenses.

I watched both. Vick could not win from the pocket. Vick did not have the accuracy or touch that Jackson has. He was a complete liability if he couldn't effectively run. Once Vick got a little banged up and wasn't a running threat, the Falcons season was basically over. Vick would not be a top 10 passer in the modern league. Lamar is.

They only thing they have in common is that they can make plays on their feet. So can Allen, Mahomes, and Maye.

I've been hearing this from the LJAX apologists for years...."He doesn't have a WR. Thats why he came up short in the playoffs.". Nonsense.

BAL lost b/c he turned the ball over twice and made a crap throw to Edwards (who also should have caught it) in a tight game. Harbaugh f-ed up because he didn't run Henry enough and the D didn't rise to the occasion. Jackson isn't good enough to carry a team to a Super Bowl without his supporting cast helping him.

If Andrews doesn't drop an easy pass the game goes into overtime. If Andrews doesn't have one of the dumbest fumbles because he decided to dance around, it might have been a Ravens win before that.

Lamar has eclipsed 4000 yards passing once in his entire career… this year. He’s only eclipsed 3500 yards twice in his career, last year and this year.

All it took for him to eclipse these milestones was for the NFL to increase the number of games and for the Ravens to realize Lamar was never going to stay healthy unless they let him run less. He only played 12 games the two season prior and missed the playoffs entirely in 2022.

Don’t tell me he is a top passer, he’s a runner whose threat of running is so great he opens up easy passes and goal line opportunities.

If he broke his leg, it never recovered fully and he was forced to become a full time passer… his career would sink like a stone. Without his legs his career would be over.

Drafting Lamar would have required a big change in offensive game planning, philosophy etc. Bill and Josh had no desire to do that. It worked out I guess with the 2nd Rams Super Bowl. They didn't want to reinvent the offense with someone like Lamar.

Doesn't really matter because GM Brady wouldn't allow it after Jimmy. If Bill overruled Brady and got Lamar 2018 never happens and his demands from July of 2019 happen quicker and probably harsher.

Lamar was never an option.

Love or Hurts were mistakes though. And I suppose Purdy too but everyone made that mistake and he's come back to the pack a little. Not sure what other QBs we missed out on.

At the time drafting Lamar was not in line with the needs of the team. Even knowing what we know now, the Pats were not in the position to invest a first round pick in a QB unless they were ready to cut Brady loose. The way the Jimmy G experience ended, it was clear that ownership wanted to let Brady finish his career with the Pats before investing real resources in his potential replacement. While not great players, Sony and Wynn were serviceable parts of a super bowl winning team. The only real regret is that Brady did not finish his career in a Pats uniform.
