This has been bothering me since Peppers was suspended for a suspected domestic violence charge. Peppers was IMMEDIATELY suspended. I guess I could see the punishment, but what I wondered was WHY was RRice never suspended after he was racing on a public highway, caused an accident that caused injury, and then fled the scene of the accident. When someone asked the question of the NFL they responded by saying they are not doing anything until the case is adjudicated.

So, Peppers whose case has never gone to court and been resolved suffered an immediate 5 game suspension, Rice has seemingly gotten a pass from the league for a serious crime. Now I had kind of forgotten about it because Rice was injured early in the season (thank you Karma), but he it is now looking like he could return in the Playoffs. Remember this accident happened in MARCH and somehow has YET to be resolved. Why is that?

Why was the league so quick to jump on Peppers and turned a blind eye on Rice. BTW- now that we know that Peppers legal issues will be resolved one way or another soon it begs the question of why Peppers can get his case resolved in about 3 months and Rice can't face the courts 9 and a half months later. Rodger Goodell "justice" at it's best

Its all about optics... After the Ray Rice debacle in Baltimore, the NFL decided to place all players suspected of domestic violence on the Commissioners list... Rashee Rice was not suspended because he was not involved in domestic abuse, but a motor vehicle accident... so it all has to do with the DV charges leveled at Peppers because those types of charges make the nfl look bad in the media...

Though, in light of the cheefs history with motor vehicle incidents (Britt Reid anyone?), maybe the league should have investigated a bit instead of saying "we'll wait til the cops get done"... you know, akin to the whole repeat offender excuse they used to fine us/dock us a draft pick over the whole cincy much ado about nothing... as for the timing of the charges or lack thereof so far, i would hazard a guess - money... Rice can afford a high priced attorney... the longer it drags out, the more beneficial it is for him...

Its easy its the Chiefs.

Speaking of them I saw an interesting stat that over 25 years Brady got 38 roughing the passer calls and Mahomes in 8 years already has 31. We can say the officiating has changed but its pretty clear the league loves them some chiefs and swifties.

Perhaps because.......
Our guy unloaded the ball in 2 seconds, the other uses his legs to extend passing plays behind the LOS.

With domestic situations involving a female it's a very sensitive thing. So the league will always overreact rather than do nothing like they did initially with the rice situation in the elevator. Peppers from all accounts seems to be getting vindicated as his situation appears he'll get through it.

Cases don't move at the same speed through all jurisdictions, and these are two entirely different sets of charges. Lawyer maneuvers can also shorten or lengthen timelines of cases.

How many has Allen had? Burrow?

Might just be how they call things now.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I thought once he leaves the pocket he becomes a runner and then the roughing the passer goes out the window.

Because there is no political/public pressure to punish racing on a public highway like there is to punish domestic violence.

I think you may be on to something. Allen with 38 from 18-24 and Burrow with 14 from 20-24. I think back to that hit Nate Clements gave Brady back in 01 when Bradys helmet gets ripped off and he jumps up and claps. That is 100% a penalty in todays Swifty led NFL.

Did the NFL suspend him or did the Patriots? I thought the Pats put him on one of those exempt lists, basically suspending him themselves. Your issue would then be why didnt the chiefs handle it like the pats?

Like others have said, it's just PR from the NFL. Domestic violence is something that really puts people off to the league and draws criticism. Racing cars on the highway... not so much. Just the way it is.

Going 119mph and causing a six car crash and fleeing the scene without rendering aid to the injured is a little more than just racing. Rice was charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury. Is it as egregious as domestic assault, debatable.

Because the NFL only cares about PR. It's that simple.

Video evidence... there's a palpable difference between seeing Ray Rice beat the piss out of his woman in an elevator... versus hearing a third party account of the Pepper's incident. Video doesn't lie.
