I wonder if BB and Vrabel talked. That had to have, right? And the fact it's pretty obvious her being moved was a condition of Vrabel's employment, means there was certainly something there, the conspiracy theorists win one, I suppose.
Kraft gave Mayo a wonderful undeserved Golden Ticket of an NFL throne on a silver platter. Credit to Kraft for fixing it so soon afterward! KRAFT: "Go ahead Jerod, you go bro, run with it, show them A-holes what you can do with leadership! Let them see what happens when opportunity presents itself to oppressed millionaires such as yourself.. This is the time we show the triumph of DEI policies and I will be rewarded as a Hall of Fame enlightened owner to boot for it! .....Mayo on the team plane after yet another a loss: ......... "whose deal?"Even if that’s all true none of that means Mayo was screwed by Kraft.
Mayo screwed up. He thought playing cards in the back of the plane was coaching. He thought he had two years for sure so he put it on cruise control this year and sleep walked through the season. He wasted an entire year, had nothing to show for it, and Kraft finally saw through him.
Mayo spent the entire year promising to do better next year when he should have spent every day working his tail off to be better the next day than he was the day before.
But he didn’t, and he wasn’t, and he gave no reason to believe he’d be better next year either.
Mayo screwed himself, he screwed the players, his coaching staff, the Krafts, and the fan base. The only thing Kraft did to screw anybody was to hire Mayo. Kraft would’ve screwed us all worse if he hadn’t fired Mayo after this dumpster fire of a season.
I think the fan base, and maybe sites like this one, helped Kraft see through it.Even if that’s all true none of that means Mayo was screwed by Kraft.

I remember hearing too that Kraft spoke with Arthur Blank and encouraged him not to hire BB.I don’t think it’s strong enough. I think he undermined Bill the previous year, leaked dirt to Tom Curran, and kissed Kraft’s butt to get the job. Then didn’t know the first thing about how to do the job. He also trashed Bill during his first couple of press conferences while Bill was trying to find another coaching job.
He played most of the team’s starters against Buffalo’s 2nd stringers to win a meaningless game costing the team a lot of draft capital. We likely would have traded down to about #4 and picked up an early second and maybe a future first. That would have been huge for our rebuild and I think he did out of spite knowing he was being fired which is why the Krafts had him escorted out shortly after the game.
I’ll call him a moron. I’ll also call him a snake and many other words that’s not appropriate for this site.
Didn’t realize Kraft was my man. LOL!Craft used Mayo because he thought hiring a minority HC would get him in the HOF.
Craft used Glaser too.
Craft really set Mayo up to lose.
Especially after his HOF bid went down in flames.
Now your man Craft is in panic mode. If BB turns UNC into a winner its going be a long time for Craft to make it into Canton.
Where does the Rooney Rule state the Pats needed to make a serious attempt to find a minority or female head coach? It says no such thing. The Pats knew who they wanted and complied with the rule. Period. I don't care if they were serious or not. Forcing an employer to interview someone based on skin color or gender is ridiculous and patronizing. Higher the best person for the job and judge him/her by the content of his character. That was MLK's dream and this idiocy you are referring to wasn't. Breer makes himself into some great moral savior acting as if the Pats did something wrong. They didn't.That's a lot of projection my friend.
He said it was ridiculous that the Patriots interviewed two minority coaches that they had no intention of hiring. They completed these interviews on the first day after Robert Kraft press conference. This was not a serious attempt to find a head coach.
He said that they didn't take the process seriously because they already had their person in mind.
No one denies these things. They were never going to hire those guys and they were always going to hire Vrabel.
Breer is not wrong on this matter. This is not a patriot issue though. This is a league wide issue. Every single team does this.

I don't know why you keep saying this, when it's blatantly untrue. The Colts and Raiders alone have had 2 each in the last 20 years.Enjoy your 4 years.
This same league you're so worried about patronizing people hired only 5 black coaches in 80 years. Five dawg.
But you right. They were strictly hiring the best candidate and minorities were super unqualified in those 8 decades.
Nothing to see here at all!

I like Morgan Freeman's take on this subject...Where does the Rooney Rule state the Pats needed to make a serious attempt to find a minority or female head coach? It says no such thing. This hire was much worse than Rust. At least Rust was an established DC when he got hired. Rust was also a DC after the 1990 season. The results were terrible and I don’t want to defend Rust but Mayo wasn’t any better.1. No one expected Mayo to turn the team into a .500 one. It was expected the team would show some improvement and individual players would improve, that they would not quit when things got tough and he would control the locker room. Also that he might be able to make adjustments and control his coordinators and that he could present a strong face to the media.
He did NONE of these. Complete fail. Nothing to do with the record. I think he was as bad as Rust.
I was really pulling for Mayo but a lot has changed over the last year or so. The only two people that I would trust now are Brady and Belichick. This hire was much worse than Rust. Mayo won 4 games… I think it’s really three. He earned his fourth win the same way he got his job. It was given to him and it is the worst “win” in team history.
You ever seen the 1990 roster. It was every bit as bad as what Mayo inherited. I would argue it was worse. Grogan was washed. Armstrong and Friar are about it. No QB. No rookie QB with potential played. Look at that team’s schedule. Only Three teams they played didn’t have a winning record. Mayo’s schedule this year actually was pretty weak. He had a losing record against the bottom of the league. Fact is he sucked as bad as Rust if not worse all things considered.
I can’t believe how anyone thinks with more time or a mentor he could have turned it around. He didn’t appear to take the job seriously. He essentially ran Steve out and promoted another guy who didn’t earn his job either and oh yeah, I almost forgot, hired his own brother as strength coach.
I can’t believe I just defended the 1-15 Rust.
Minorities and everyone else should be hiredIn the 80 years leading up to the Rooney rule which you people claim is exclusionary and unnecessary.
I know reading is hard and you people hate equality but try and keep up.
It's a absolute fact that when left up to their own devices, the owners do not hire minorities.
Enjoy your 4 years.
Minorities and everyone else should be hired when they are the most qualified not based on their racial identity or skin color.
Where are you ripping Kraft for what he just pulled off?Jesus.
Why is this hard to comprehend.
5 minority coaches in 80 years and your take is that that's not because they been boxed out but because THERE WAS NO QUALIFIED MINORITY to be hired.
1 every 16 years on avg.
Imagine actually taking the position that no more than 5 minority coaches in 8 decades was qualified for the job.
Mathematical improbability.
Where are you ripping Kraft for what he just pulled off?
I'm the only one here calling Kraft out.
White Pete Carrol got 3 years as Pats HC and he played basketball with the players. WPC was handed a Super Bowl roster. What did Mayo have to work with?
