I take it all back. I thought the people who wanted to pass on Maye were insane. I’m sure he’s a good kid though.
He might be insane. Especially after seeing Maye this year. He still feels that way.

I was up in the air about QB or OT at 3 and during the draft preferred a trade down, but after seeing Maye perform this year, I can admit Maye was the best pick at 3. We will all see how it works out over time, but right now, Maye looks legit. Use this draft and FA and get him some help and they might have something.

I felt like they had to get their QB then and there, or they would be screwed for years to come, because I knew this QB class sucked, and trying to get a QB who can win you a Lombardi in free agency is almost impossible. And once you have your franchise QB you have the next 10-15 years with a shot at winning something if you put a good team around them. However the next piece you have to put in place is a really good coach, because bad ones rarely win anything, and now I think the Patriots have put that piece in place as well. Now they have to put the rest of the pieces in place, which, oddly enough, is probably the easiest thing to do, as the QB and Coach are the hardest pieces to find.

We've known his title for weeks, I don't see how it means there's any kind of trouble

His title is just a way to get him in there to bypass the Rooney rule.

The "trouble" I think they're alluding to is that Wolf is out.

But ya, we've known that for weeks too n

Not sure why Cowden having a title one step below Wolf means that Wolf is out. It's possible that's something that could happen eventually, but I haven't seen anything that implies it's definitely happening or is imminent. They released a short Senior Bowl video reel yesterday that had the trio of Vrabel, Wolf and Cowden all together.

Wolf is done. He is not going to be making a single decision in the draft or free agency.

Almost certainly he has a promotion clause in his contract the way Mayo did to skirt Rooney rule and it will be used in quick succession.

Vice President of player Personnel E Wolf - Vice President of Player Personnel Ryan Cowden??

I saw that too and I must say they all looked quite relaxed. If they were going to release Wolf, I doubt very much he would have been there scouting.

One good thing about this Elliott Wolf could learn from from Ryan Cowden. It's not news but Wolf really had a really bad inaugural Draft minus Driskel Maye.

Agree completely. My sense of Wolf is that he prefers this dynamic, and sees his job as getting the best choices in front of Vrabel, and letting him make the final call. If you have a coach you can trust, and it’s going to be a long term relationship, then you can trust them to put the roster together that fits what they are trying do in terms of systems and schemes. I had absolutely no idea of what Mayo wanted the team to be built upon, was it speed or physicality, whereas with Vrabel and Co. it’s clear. They want to be big, nasty/violent, dominate the lines, and let everything flow off of that. I think it’s much easier to get the pieces in place when you have a clear idea of what you are trying to build. I expect them to prioritize the offensive line, and defensive front 7. If they see an opportunity at WR I would expect them to try and take it, but not everything needs to be accomplished in one offseason. Fortunately for them free agency and the Draft will give them many options to upgrade the defensive line. Free agency has a number of good young players, and older vets available, and the Draft is strong at both DT and Edge. It’s going to be really interesting to see what they do at those positions.

Mayo have company in the boot licking department...compose yourself Wolf.

I like the attitude. I think Vrabel, Wolf and Cowden will work well together….

“It’s been awesome. We’re getting to know each other a little bit,” Wolf told Evan Lazar of Patriots.com at the Senior Bowl. “The thing I like about it, it’s very focused and intentional. (Coach Vrabel) knows exactly what he wants. He’s done it before. He knows ball. He can talk through every position really well. He’s already detailed about what he’s looking for, so that makes our jobs easier.”

Wolf giving Mayo a taste of his own medicine throwing him under the bus.

I change it every couple of years depending how the team is doing. I had a cheerleader for my 1st 5 years here, then a Gronk avatar.

First of all, Wolf doesn't appear to have any ego, which serves him well in this situation. He's going to always have a good job in the NFL, no job security issues. I think he just wants this team to succeed and is happy to play whatever role Kraft asks him to.

His comments about MV being very detailed about what he wants is really how every coach/front office relationship should work. The HC puts in his order, and the front office delivers. Everyone knows the deal and is rowing in the same direction. Music to my ears.
