What does Mayo have to do with Tyquan and all the other busts?

Did Mayo hamper Boutte and Demario Douglas? No, not one bit.
Mayo and our cheap position Coaches hampered both Polk and Baker: I don't give a about Tyquan. Don't be so resolute on Polk he might prove you wrong. I still think there's a player inside his head.

Randy Moss and Wes Welker shared the job 2007-2009.

EDIT: probably Chad O'shea 2009-2018.
I think we can safely say O'Shea did a good job here. While there wasn't a lot of development of younger players (Malcolm Mitchell and JE11) they did win 3 SBs and under his watch. Vets like DA, Hogan, Cooks, LaFell and Lloyd were expected to be productive here and they were.

There is no time with all the work that needs to be done. A new grading system should be implemented in May…not January.
How do you know it wasn't?

Like I said Polk and Baker could make that Boutte jump.

Cowden has already been doing this work for a year
Yes, on another team with different scouts and mgmt. Every team has grading system they have been doing for years….thats not the issue. They all need to be trained and on the same page. A professor has been teaching at a university for 25 years and moves to another university. The students won’t all of a sudden know what the other students knew at the other university. It takes time.

Wolf’s grading system was put in place after the last draft . Everyone has been trained on it.

Polk won't prove me wrong. He lacks the physical ability to succeed in this league. So did Tyquan, but AT LEAST Tyquan had speed. Polk has none of these assets.

But I'll say it again: if there was a lack of good coaching, then explain Demario's and Boutte's improvements. I'm not saying the coaching did it, but it didn't proevent them from playing better either

I hope Mike Vrabel overrule everyone of our scouts...it won't take much to buck Wolfs' system.

I’m not saying Wolf or the scouts did a good or bad job evaluating players…just that the old grading system was in place for the last draft.

The players are the players, the students are the students. It doesn't change based on who is looking at them. Sometimes you have to just find football players.

Metrics are an easy way for people to justify their jobs, to make things look a lot more technical than they are.And at the end of the day you have multiple 1st round busts and Puka Nacua goes at the end of the 5th round. It's not because they were evaluated by different metrics systems (heck, you have the same team busting with a guy in the first and winning with a guy in the 5th), it's because Puka is a better football player than Treylon Burks.

Right. Last May.

I disagree.
There’s over three months. It’s 100 days away.
Senior Bowl. Combine. Pro days. Visits and interviews.
With 100 days and access to the players, their coaches, the testing, and their medical records my kids could deliver a better outcome.

And I don’t think Vrabel has been ignoring college football.
So in 100 days you want to scout the senior bowl, combine, and Pro days. Hold visits and interviews. Hire a coaching staff. Run one of the most important free agencies in team history.

And you also want to shake up the scouts by giving them a new grading system and task them with re-evaluating 4 months of football with that system?

stater: you just want to be right on Polk: but I'm not giving up. I would like to see him with a Tee Higgins or Tetairo McMillan. Then I would cast judgement: Polk was very good with Rome Odunze one who draws elite coverage. Polk have the makeup of a good complimentary Receiver.

All teams use metrics to evaluate players. Not a single team in the NFL says in the draft “he looks like a player, we don’t need to attend combines and invite players for interviews…we just draft and sign players that look good in a uniform”.

My point is that someone who has already graded the player will also have a corresponding grade to whatever system they are moving into. So let's say you're comparing Treylon Burks to Puka Nacua. Both the system you're moving from (and to) will have varying grades. So you have a natural comparison between the two already. The grades correspond. Imagine we're back in the 2022 draft and Cowden comes in and says to Wolf, you have Burks much higher than the grade I gave him, he was a 4th rounder for me, and Nacua is too low comparatively. They'll have to hash that difference out. They know why the grades are what they are. But the grades have already been done.

As for NOT a single team looks at a player and just thinks, "He's a football player," some teams do exactly this for some players, espcially the guys who kick butt but don't have the measurables.

Remember, Brock Bowers flopped at the combine.

stater: a lot of posters will laugh at you for making that statement.

Why?

It's not like he hasn't taken 2nd WRs before.

And what did McConkey have in common with the main thing Belichick looks at when it comes to WR?

An incredible short-area shuttle number.
