Steve... Buddy... deep breath Pal...
Here ya go;
Thank you, my brother.

Line 'em up.

I saw a video where he was in a limo and the guy asked him would you cut your **** off for a SB ring
Vrabes said yes “I’ve been married for 20 years so I don’t need it anymore”
I saw that. I bet his wife got a charge out of that. Probably got home to a deadpan "Nice, Michael."

Vrabel on his similarities to Belichick:

"Hopefully we're both prepared and we're ready to execute in critical situations... Hopefully our special teams can set the table for the offense and defense and be violent and change field position... Offensively, take care of the football... Defensively, be great in the read zone, get off the field on 3rd down, cause turnovers... All the things that I remember. Now, how we get to that may be different than Bill did, but I also know that there was flexibility there; some ability to adjust and adapt, so you know, that would really be a great compliment if our teams did all those things."

I suggest you watch the interview.

Of course Vrabes is going to speak in a collaborative tone as that is his nature and something he wants.

You don't hire a guy like that and pay him $15m without giving him final say on personnel. Period.
So you don't remember the basis for your own view? Yeah, that's credible.

As for "You don't hire a guy like that and pay him $15m without giving him final say on personnel. Period."", that is an argument? In what way does the fact they paid Vrabel a handsome salary (as predicted) prevent them from denying him final say on the roster? In no way whatsoever. What nonsense.

I'm not making an argument. I am taking a wait and see approach to how it all unfolds.

You were looking for @RobertWeathers to defend with exact quotes he heard on the fekkin' radio, because you've already convicted them as guilty and ready to bring on the executioner. Yet you want to jump all over me for lack of empirical evidence when I am not the one you are arguing with.

I'm not asking you to repeat your view for the 10th time. I am asking you to smoke a fekkin' doob and relax for a goddam minute and see what happens. The team literally just introduced Vrabel as HC today.
You are "making no argument" because you have no argument to make and no evidence upon which to make it. Asked for evidence, you offer, "Just you wait." Please.

After the Presser and subsequent meeting with 98.5 have a crap load of confidence in Vrabel, what is interesting is he experienced post Pats how teams are run from Ohio State, Houston, Tennessee and Cleveland.. as he indicated he has a Ph., D. in coaching..
He will definitely be the alpha in this organization and the lines of communication will be very clear.. it will take some time though, but look forward to watching the progress through the next couple of years.
I liked how he complimented Karen Gueregian that will go far among the Pats press corps a clear indicator he will not be Bill II when it comes to how the media will be treated.
When is TC??

I enjoyed the section about how their first goal is to be able to "take advantage of bad football" and that he told the team already that right now he doesn't think they are capable of it. He wants them to be able to go out there and play clean, and when other teams play bad football, be able to take advantage of that and not BE the team that is playing bad football.

That's a perfectly reasonable goal and even with bottom-third roster talent you can win 7 or 8 games that way against a weak schedule (which theirs is). I do wonder if they will actually spend a ton of cash in free agency or if they will opt to try to address crucial needs and otherwise try to get more role players and strong veteran leaders, taking a more measured approach.
They Better LOL.
They need at least 1 high end free agent, preferably Higgins, and then 2 tackles, one of Robinson/Staley and then they will STILL have plenty of money to do a more measured approach elsewhere. Add Carter in the draft and we can address Pass rushing end, Tackles and WR with just those moves.

You asked @RobertWeathers for evidence. I suggested to wait and see, not "you just wait".

That alone is night and day to Mayo last season as the main take away was “diversity”.

I know he didn’t say it, but I would bet money that vrabel has final personnel say over wolf. He’ll work with wolf this year because he knows he can overrule him. He’ll use his guy Cowden for real recommendations and wolf will be Milton from office space, mostly just there thinking he’s doing something.
I believe Bedard, could have been another reporter, said pre-contract signing he had heard that Vrabel was going to have final say.

So you don't remember the basis for your own view? Yeah, that's credible.
I really don't give a **** if you think i'm credible or not.

It's clear you don't want to spend the time and listen to the man's words, weigh that with the current situation and come to your own conclusion.
As for "You don't hire a guy like that and pay him $15m without giving him final say on personnel. Period."", that is an argument? In what way does the fact they paid Vrabel a handsome salary (as predicted) prevent them from denying him final say on the roster? In no way whatsoever. What nonsense.
Yes and it's a damn good argument because he wouldn't have come here if he did not have major say/final say in the roster. Even Kraft said it earlier this week. Do you want me to watch the video and quote that for you?

I bet if Vrabel feels strongly about a player, he gets his way, whether that power structure is explicit or not. The relationship is obviously going to be more complex than a simple hierarchy with Vrabel at the top, but I can't see Wolf going to war with Vrabel either. There will be internal consensus building, but I guarantee you Vrabel is not going to be disgruntled about the groceries, and if Wolf presents too much of a problem, he'll be gone. Vrabel is the man now. Wolf isn't.
So you hope it works out. Great. You cite no fact nor any statement on the part of anyone involved which justifies your expectations, despite there having been many opprotunites for all involved to do so. NO one has made any statement which even implies your take is correct. You are being played, successfully.

I don't know what Ross' 'solid if not Franchise LT' is going to require but my choice will be on a rookie contract. Prior to yesterday I was sweating a bidding war for a not to exciting tandem of Cam Robinson or Jackson but now that my man Kelvin Banks Jr has declared for the draft I'm good.
That's always preferable to have the Rookie Contract. I wouldn't mind Jackson at RT (which he can play), and he's still young. Then put Banks Jr. at LT. Even without being the desired height, if he has 33" long arms or the longer than that the better, I think he can be a beast. He's not another Isaiah Wynn. Campbell may very well be a solid LT, but I'm hearing that his arms are too short (even though he has the height/weight), and is better suited to play OG. I also wonder if Wallace can play RG. I guess only time will tell regarding both of those last two points.

We agree on Wolf, but I am concerned with noncommittal response over who has final say. The line of command should be clear and unambiguous.
I think Wolf is involved until after the draft and then Vrabel's guys move in. I assume it is all a bit non-descript because it is not final.

The key quote regarding personnel and final say from the 98.5 interview (thanks @Ian for the transcription!):

You mentioned you had discussions with Eliot Wolf over the weekend? Where did those center around and how do you view that collaboration working moving forward?

“I think the vision that him and I both have and the communication and allowing him to find us great players and then for us to come to an agreement about how we add them, I think, is something that will be critical. Again, looking forward. It’s just been a busy morning, so have to be able to get down and see all those personnel, scouts, and everybody in that building. It’s important to me to get to know them because they’re not going to be the ones that are out on the road trying to find us players and seeing them at the Senior Bowl and be able to sit down and have dinner with them and get to know them, the ones that I don’t already know.”
