Know your place PF2..I won't miss either.
I enjoyed the section about how their first goal is to be able to "take advantage of bad football" and that he told the team already that right now he doesn't think they are capable of it. He wants them to be able to go out there and play clean, and when other teams play bad football, be able to take advantage of that and not BE the team that is playing bad football.Seem like Vrabel was already joking about the roster. One of the things I loved reading about Vrabes in previous situations is how his goal is to get the most out of every player, no matter their talent level. I think that's key, especially where the team is starting from right now.I enjoyed the section about how their first goal is to be able to "take advantage of bad football" and that he told the team already that right now he doesn't think they are capable of it. That's a perfectly reasonable goal and even with bottom-third roster talent you can win 7 or 8 games that way against a weak schedule (which theirs is). I do wonder if they will actually spend a ton of cash in free agency or if they will opt to try to address crucial needs and otherwise try to get more role players and strong veteran leaders, taking a more measured approach.
Is that you Jonathan?Old people need to learn when they should step aside and not be the face of everything
Wolf being here this year, and having any authority in Personnel Matters are two different things altogether.Wolf seems like a lock to be here for the upcoming year
They can't sanely keep Onwenu and get Smith. Unless, Trade Onwenu (for whatever, so long as the team taking him takes his whole contract), plug Robinson in at RG and Smith at LG (or vise versa), something to that affect. Keeping both is too much money to pay for 2 OG's (over 40 Million a year).Honestly he is right. The interior is more important than the exterior these days, especially when your QB is mobile and can move to adjust for edge pressure by stepping up or rolling out. If the interior is weak and he can't step up, and all he can do is move out you become predictable.
Fortunately they have a decent interior but it could stand to be improved. I might look at Trey Smith as a splash free agent.
They have heaping gobs of money, I don't see why having two highly paid guards is necessarily a big problem when you are protecting your QB.They can't sanely keep Onwenu and get Smith. I don't think Daniels was saying he had the opportunity to be the HC, he was just saying he had the opportunity to be a coach in NE. "He had the opportunity to come prior". Granted it could have been worded more clearly. He kinda misunderstood. He had the opportunity to be A coach not the HC.
Under Vrabel: Fat Mike is gonna have to lose some weight. They can't sanely keep Onwenu and get Smith. He's technically not the GM, they can keep him with his title but have someone else ahead of him.Wolf being here this year, and having any authority in Personnel Matters are two different things altogether.
C'mon Ross he's not a miracle worker: neither can he walk on water.Emphasized being strong up front, both offensively and defensively. I am sure he is opening to get Barmore back healthy if he can. I wonder if Godchaux will be kept. I am betting that he will try to coach up Keion White and get him working on the inside more often... White will flourish under Vrabel. Some other guys have some untapped potential too I think, such as Ekuale and perhaps Jacquelin Roy.
Agreed there Ross your on point as usual. Yes this team couldn't take advantage of anything last season and to your points the opponents playing bad football they couldn't capitalize on it. Because their are so many holes to fill.. I'm leaning that they stack the skill positions by draft, trades and FA as he mentioned "surrounding Drake with people " I believe we spread the cap all around the roster.. ??I enjoyed the section about how their first goal is to be able to "take advantage of bad football" and that he told the team already that right now he doesn't think they are capable of it.
