I bet Dugger will have a huge bounce back year and Keion White will suddenly be a very good player.
For Dugger, this wouldn't be hard.

Don't make him be the deep safety AND line up at the LOS.

Honestly, Covington's designs were the most baffling thing I ever saw. How is the deep safety supposed to read routes and the QBs eyes when he's backpedaling from the LOS?

That’s a good point about Josh leaving. I don’t think he will be offered a head coaching job but let’s say he is in three years, Vrabel needs to make sure there is a QB coach or passing game coordinator who is fully dialed into Josh’s offense.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Vrabel at least interview the guy who interviewed for the OC position a couple years ago, didn’t get any has been with the Rams since.
I think it'll take 5+ years before Josh would be offered another HC gig. Besides, he's still being paid his HC salary by the Raiders until 2028. Even if that did happen, Drake will be a 6+ year vet by that point in time. He would be fully developed and I don't think learning a different offense, if he had to, would suddenly kill him.

Agreed Dugger played hurt all season.. he had ankle issue that plagued him all season. He's a far better player than last season.. we have an elite safety pairing with peppers and Dugger... Keon white will be used correctly.. he's an interior rusher not an edge rusher.

Does Josh still get paid by the Raiders if he has a job with another team ?

Sorry I meant.. if he takes an OC or HC job then I don't think LV is on the hook for the full salary.. Ross could better clarify..

My understanding is that his Raiders payments are subject to offset. Whatever he is paid by Kraft (hypothetically) would be deducted from what the Raiders owe him. That is generally how it works. Although every contract is its own animal.

The injury is a good point too. Id give dugger and some of the other guys who regressed the 2025 season to see if they can thrive under the new staff then cut bait in 2026 if not. Anyway most of these guys it seems there will be minimal cap savings if you move them this year and unlikely to get much back for them.

This is how I understand it and I think you're even supposed to pay him somewhat his worth. You can't just sign him for a penny. If you sign him as OC you're expected to pay him like other OCs with similar experience. No clue how that is calculated.

Just two offseasons ago, McDaniels signed a six-year contract that was reportedly paying him $10 million annually. With the firing and the fact that NFL head coaches’ contracts are guaranteed, McDaniels’ pay will not change over the four remaining years of his deal despite the fact he won’t be coaching the Raiders any longer.

Even if McDaniels were to go work for another team, he would merely just need to be paid the minimum by his new team, as the Raiders will front the bill on his contract over the next four seasons.

Most of the guys we reupped got 3 year extensions.. Dugger I think his deal would be up in 26? Same with peppers as well. I believe everyone currently here and under contract will be given a clean slate.. especially with Vrabel being here.. he will want to put his touch on the Defense.. Godchaux got a 1 year extension so his future is uncertain here.

music to ownerships ears.

From what I've heard, Wolf is an extremely nice guy and he tried to be too collaborative. Based on personality types I'm pretty confident that Vrabel will be the alpha when it comes to final say.

Wolf wiffed on Polk. I think he thought he had his slot receiver in DD. I think coaching or lack thereof might of played a role in Polk and Baker not developing.

I didn't mind his Draft strategy from a positional standpoint this past draft. We were so depleted at key positions he couldn't take a BPA approach. Drafting Milton was a great move. I'm sure there are a number of GMs kicking themselves.

The contracts he signed are certainly worth a second guess. I heard his strategy is to acquire good players and adapt the system around them vs fit.

I'm more curious about Groh and his future.
Agree.

Judon and uche trades were A+
Maye let's give it a B as it's obvious choice
Milton is A+
Robinson is B
Baker and Polk let's give D for now
Wallace would probably be a B-

It's an ok draft but not for worthy /terrible especially after only 1 years . Where he probably whiffed was in free agency with okrafor and few others. Our defense regressing to the extent revealed the lack of coaching nous.

But wolf also left 40 million extra for this year which can possibly be spent on Higgins - that's an A.

And 1 year to gauge a GM performance when coaching has been found wanting is not a great barometer. We can establish some guard rails this season and see how it goes.

Agreed. For many reasons I'd like Mc to come back as on OC.. one of the main reasons is he'd bring back the 3rd down back missing since 2019 to the offense. Gibson would relish in that role under McDaniels.

Actually, Josh would be the safest hire, because I don't see him getting a third opportunity as head coach. The younger candidates might be gone after 2 years.

Seriously you do not see the difference in trying to tailor an offense that doesn't fit a QB's skill set and taking an offense that does and fine tuning it?
That is correct. I consider it nonsense.

@signbabybrady

Just wanted to touch on AJ brown being unhappy with his role.. what do you think it would take to pry him from eagles??
