How do you keep the man’s system without keeping the man. And his system sucks.
The system is passed on. Hence coaching trees. Andy Reid, Mike Shanahan, Sean Mcvay.

Wolf et al will stay at least through the draft you would think. I don’t think Mayo had any involvement on the draft. He all but admitted he knew nothing about offense and the draft was all offense. Was all Wolf.

Vrabel will have guys like Christian Eliss solid and possible pro bowl level at LB.
Let's' hope Vrabel gets us some coverage LB's hate those Two down BB thumpers.

Yes! Is Mac Wilson a soon to be FA? I'd love to have him back.. he is excellent coverage LB.. the only coverage our LB did last season was our eyes..

I'm not trying to be a Wolf apologist, but wasn't he absolutely correct in pointing out that Mayo's staff's coaching and development wasn't what it needed to be?
He was 100% correct.
Of course, it comes off as just throwing Mayo under the bus, since Wolf is the one that picked the groceries. Basically handed him a bowl of **** with two cherries on top, and said 'Make me a beef Wellington'.

Yes, at the end of 23' he was one of best defensive players and then we let him walk and kept Uche. Get him back.

We absolutely need to right a wrong and sign him... I remember hearing when he signed with Arizona he didn't want to leave NE... as you said Uche.. ugh..

I have never seen anything that said that MacDaniels incorporated the west coast offense into the E-P offense.
I have never seen anything that said that he didn't.

Like, Elliss is fine, glad he's on special teams. But if he's getting major minutes on your starting defense like he did the back half of this season, there are problems.
Your right. As he was playing out of neeed last season.. as you've seen in the post thread.. I'd like Mac Wilson to come back to NE.. he's perfect as a coverage LB.. I fully expect the LB corps to be upgraded and stout next season. Eliss could be good rotational piece.

He's better than Takitaki. He was really out of place.

If only we'd seen him use the **** to fertilize some crops, plant the cherries while he's at it. We'd have said, there's a plan here, we need to give him more time.

Instead we watched in horror and disbelief as his plan was to reverse digest it by shoving it up the exit point and hoping to cough up a beef wellington.

I am so glad he's gone.

Then what happens when MacDaniels leaves? There are only 3 team that run E-P anymore, which gives you 3 OC’s you can possibly hire to replace him. Or change offenses again, which is a terrible idea. All of the great QB’s learned one offense and mastered it. Brady 1 system,Marino 1 system Mahomes1system, Montana1system, Elway 1-system, the list is long, none of them were jerked from system to system. The language is different, the reads are different, the blocking assignments are different. It’s a big deal.
That’s a good point about Josh leaving. I don’t think he will be offered a head coaching job but let’s say he is in three years, Vrabel needs to make sure there is a QB coach or passing game coordinator who is fully dialed into Josh’s offense.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Vrabel at least interview the guy who interviewed for the OC position a couple years ago, didn’t get any has been with the Rams since.

Did Boutte improve, though? Or did he just show us who he is? The guy didn't even really play at all in 2023 (totaled 7 targets for 2 receptions and 19 yards in the whole year). As you said, Thornton also did not improve, Polk regressed vs. what he did in college and early in the season, and Baker did literally nothing. Osborn was a known commodity WR3 and came here and did nothing. We already mentioned Pop and Bourne So I don't really feel like Boutte proves otherwise.
Pop improved. His numbers bear that out.

Im just saying there's no evidence really to draw conclusions on way or the other.

Also, Polk was in college the year before, so I can't see how anyone can call it a regression.

I mean Tyquan Thornton had the SAME EXACT college stats as Polk and no one calls his trajectory with the Patriots a regression from college.
