The Official Vrabel vs Ben Johnson Discussion Thread

Against the Pats no less.

I think Lazar nails it

Yep, as long as Vrabel brings a strong oc i think hes the way to go for stability purposes.

Also there are questions about his ceiling vs ben but i think his ceiling is still tbd. He wasn’t beating mahomes and burrow with a rb, as great as that rb was. Again this is strongly dependent on his oc, need a significant upgrade from avp whoever he chooses.

I hope Josh MCD. Otherwise I’m calling Ben Johnson

Ty law has been saying forever he'd like to come be a CBs coach...
Ty Law used to also walk into position meetings and would tell everyone I got Moulds this week you all figure out the rest (Substitute Moulds for any WR1). Absolutely love the player and the story but didn't make me think coach lol.

Odd thing is we haven't seen much or heard much from Josh save for games with names.. Jules show. I truly hope he comes aboard.

Eric moulds who could forget!! .. yes ty law just exudes the type of confidence you need to play his position.. I think he did attend camp last summer I remember gonzo saying that he was talking with him.

I sold Todd Rucci a tv from circuit city.
He was kind of a prick.
He promised me Drew Bledsoe would call me to hang out or send me an auto jersey. Neither happened.
Circuit city!! Used to be my favorite store.. got many electronics there! The golden era of the 90s.. my buddy worked for tweeter in Dedham he delivered a big screen TV to Malloy gave him a 200 tip.

I miss Tweeter.
This was in PA that’s where Rucci lives. The circuit city.
I had a manager at Circuit city who would discount open box stuff at crack prices he would sell me plasmas for 50 to 100 which I would flip for a 2 k profit, same thing with iPods, and Audio equipment.

Tweeter was pretty high end I loved that store.

Maybe that’s our trade partner 4 for 6 and 2 thirds?
If he falls to 4 he's gonna fall to 6. The Pats and Jags aren't going to take Sanders. Maybe you can try to swindle them and say that someone else is trying to trade up to 4 for him (Jets) but that might be hard.

I love Josh as long as hes a fit with maye. The x’s and o’s guys would know more than me there. But other than that josh had an offense with mac jones ranked #6 in scoring. When josh left so did all our creativity, when was our last great trick play? Maybe 21 for real. And most importantly continuity, he wont get another hc gig anytime soon. With a guy like jmd Vrabel can basically leave offense in jmds hands.

ROLES

OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR
someone who will bring Maye and the Offense to the next level.
There are many choices. Obviously, Josh and even AVP should be successful. Johnson and Hamilton could also do the job. Vrabel won't have any issue finding an OC. The hard part is being able to pry loose a top OL coach.

DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR
We need someone who can run the show, including making the Defense a top 5-10 Defense. He MUST be a master at devising defensive schemes and making defensive decisions during the game, and especially at half-time. And he also needs to be able to assemble a quality staff.

Are there top DC without a job? Are there position coaches who you would want at DC? We have no "right" to take another team's DC without compensation to the team. Perhaps, we could get a top DC that a team wants to DUMP. Would that really be a good choice?

HEAD COACH
First, we need someone to run the show effectively and make the decisions. At very least he needs to know what kinds of players he wants. He also needs to be able to hire a staff.

FOR ME, he also needs to be able to step in to help one of the coordinators if there are issues in that phase of the game. TO ME, this makes a defensive-minded coach like Vrabel the ideal candidate. If necessary, Vrabel can work mostly with the DC. This is what some thought we had with Mayo (when we thought that he had actually coached the Defense, instead of being a figurehead for Steve).

Head coach – Mike Vrabel

Offensive coaches

Offensive coordinator – Josh McDaniels
Quarterbacks – Josh McDaniels
Running backs – Tony Dews
Wide receivers – Wes Welker
Tight ends – Bob Bicknell
Offensive line – Scott Peters

Defensive coaches

Defensive coordinator – Shane Bowen
Defensive line – Jerry Montgomery
Linebackers – Dont'a Hightower
Cornerbacks – Mike Pellegrino
Safeties – Brian Belichick

Special teams coaches

Special teams coordinator – Jeremy Springer
Kick & punt returners – Troy Brown

Strength and conditioning – Moses Cabrera

Wow! Talk about a profit... yeah those were the good old day where you could do things like that. Yes tweeter was awesome!!!

That's exactly what has been missing creativity.. you can tell Drake wants this.. he wants the creativity and ability to keep defenses off tilt.

If the reports that a contract is being negotiated is true then Vrabel is the next HC, Johnson isn’t in a position to be dealing with contract discussions.

I was a huge audiophile til I met my wife.
She hates loud audio, and bass,
I told all my speakers and subs and audio components.
My favorite component back in the day was a Hardman Karson cd recorder player. It was the first cd burner on the market I believe and I made some nice side money burning and selling cds. But the audio quality on that cd player I’ve never heard a cd player with better sound quality.

Right, avp would show this for maybe a drive or 2 with pre snap motion or a nicely designed screen, but then the offense will hit a multi quarter lull without anything. I feel like we haven’t consistently run successful screens and gadget plays since 20 or 21.

I have no problem with MacDaniels as a coach, but I have a big problem with returning to the E-P offense, especially since there are only a couple of guys left who run it, so if MacDaniels leaves again then they will have to switch offenses again, and changing offenses repeatedly for a young QB is really bad idea.

I read Tom Brady is personally talking to Johnson’s agent and my guess they are trying to sell him on Sanders. Don’t forget Tom recently worked out with him Brady having access to the teams and players is a cheat code for the Raiders that should be ours.
Krafts screwed up.
