I'm not sure if Welker has been a good WR coach or not. He's bounced around a lot the last few years: TEX, SF, MIA

But, he can't be worse than what we've had here! When guys consistently regress with the Pats, something has to point to coaching/scheme. Which is a sad reason why I say it's time to let Troy Brown go back to podcasting.
Is he still married to Miss Hooters?

Lol. Welker isn't the reason for the Dolphins downfall, but someone has to be the fall guy.

Like Shanahan, McDaniel needs to take some responsibility. The Dolphins don't have a ground game, intermediate passing game and McDaniel runs out plays after his initial scripted first drive.
I’m curious because I hear this all the time. What exactly does it mean that they must take responsibility? What does that look like? Aren’t they taking responsibility by being the coach? What are you saying they should do?

I know a lot of fans want a clean break from the BB years
I feel that way at times also

Imagine though:
Vrabel, McDaniels, Welker, Troy Brown, Hightower, Phifer
We bring old Dynasty fear back to the NFL and win a SB in a-few years
All the other teams fans start to think
“****e, Their back”

Ok. Time for my medication
Good night. Maybe some news tomorrow

Sure. Shanahan has been known for his collapses in play calling in big games dating back to Atlanta/Pats Super Bowl. In fact, every big game his been in, his play calling has been the problem as the games got tight. He fired Steve Wilks last season as the scapegoat when the Chiefs suffocated Shanahan's offense and now they fired Nick Sorenson when their offense collapsed all season long. Shanahan can't fire himself, so he has to throw someone under the bus. Only one reporter in SF calls Shanahan and players out all the time and he is hated because he speaks up. Eventually, Shanahan is going to run out of excuses.

Now we have McDaniel firing Welker. Welker was not the reason why Hill and Waddle had bad seasons. Broadcasts mentioned defenses were taking them out because Tua was gone, they don't have a running game so defenses wouldn't bite on play action and they don't have have enforcer to command the middle of the field. McDaniel is a fine coach, but his teams have been flaming out since his arrival because he runs out of tricks up his sleeve once teams stop his initial attack.

I would be surprised if anything is announced this weekend. The NFL doesn’t like teams stealing their thunder during the playoffs.

Welker's got a friend in Vegas and they'll be hiring. Just sayin'
OFC he may soon have one here too...
I don't know if it's a permanent residence or not but I think he has a place in the North End. I saw him and his family there this past summer.

I think we need to go away from past or pats history.

Venture out with external folks . Build your own pipeline. Could fail but eventually will get it right. This conservative leaning on players or coaches tied to bills or pats is what has got us here.take a swing. Be unconventional. Let go of past.

1.Brady and belichick Era
2. Cam,Mac and Mayo Intermediate era
3. Maye Era --- start anew

A lot of frustration there following this season, and it looks like Welker is among the first people to be swept out heading into the offseason.

With hill and Waddle those speed demons on the outside how could the WR coach possibly be fired. Weird

So remind me why McDaniel is so great again? He’s 28-25 in three years. This year Miami was 18th in total yards, 21st in points scored.

For instance some coaches are excellent coordinators or position coaches.. Scar, fears for example. I believe McDaniels is a excellent OC but HC isn't is forte. If Vrabel gets the job and McDaniels is OC as a QB groomer, play caller I believe Drake could flourish with his leadership.

He's not but I do give him credit for unlocking Jonnu Smith.

He has a very good offensive mind.

HC is still up to debate but trending the wrong way

Fire themselves! And promote Welker to HC!

Are we talking about McDaniel, or McDaniels?
While googling crap I just discovered that the Houston Texans' WR Coach/Passing Game Coordinator is Josh McDaniels' brother Ben McDaniels. I had no clue. Interesting nugget.
Let’s hope HC Mike McDaniel doesn’t hire Josh McDaniels as OC and then let him hire his brother Ben McDaniels as WR coach. It would be a sportswriter’s nightmare!

Sounded like the first poster was talking about Miami HC throws ice cubes at players to prep for cold games McDaniel and the second poster was talking about Patriots Legend 3rd and long shotgun draw McDaniels

I threw myself for a loop there just realized the discussion was about McDaniel not Josh.. my bad

I expect they call him in for a second interview to make the process look genuine

Wes Welker could probably get Pop Douglas to the next Level him bing that legendary Slot Receiver. It's all about having good Position Coaches now dump all those stiffs.
