its crazy, isn't it... I went to look for a few big plays to post the in appreciation thread... there were really no big plays... some nice hits, etc... but nothing outstanding... maybe the near sack in XXVIII2III?
I was waiting for the media to get so angry at his coaching, they’d start attacking him as a player. It finally happened a couple weeks ago on the Felger and Mazz Show. Mazz brought it up asking whether anyone can remember a play that stood out and he couldn’t name one. Felger couldn’t name one either.

HT is remembered for his tackles in the Super Bowl

Jamie Collin’s had his INT’s, sacks up the gut and numerous field goal blocks.

Spikes laid the lumber and was Seau like shooting up the gut.

Mayo just existed.

I would not be surprised if this is the case. Seemed like breaks were firmly applied last off season
It was weird.
It was almost like Mayo got a test run.
Like let’s see what kind of culture and team he makes here and we willl determine if we let him build this the way he wants or move on.

I heard that,
I remember people saying that in his playing games he wasn’t up there with Navarro Bowman or Patrick Willis or Demeco Ryan’s cause he didn’t make those game altering plays.

london fletcher-esque... **** ton of tackles, but i'll be damned if i can remember a single one...

the video i watched of mayo? it was 3:45 long... the first 45 seconds were fluff and just showed him doing the "psyche up" thing...

This nonsense is the last thing Ben Johnson needs as he's putting together a new Pats dynasty.

He was the type of player that you were glad to have because his position was covered, but he wouldn't go above and beyond.

It's worth noting Mayo's first 3 years were the longest drought of playoff wins with Tom Brady as QB. We didn't start winning Super Bowls again until Mayo got injured in October in back to back years.

He was solid, but I'll always remember Hightower and Collins even Spikes more from that early to mid 2010's era

As I recall, Mayo didn’t have any holes in his game. He was a guy who was good at everything, but not great at anything.

Right solid the whole way around just didn’t excell at one thing.
That’s the best way to describe him.

It was a joke towards posters that defended him since day 1. It was so unwarranted, you’d think they were related to him.
Maybe the Krafts are here? I know they somehow react to things said here.

Oh this will be rich... can't wait to hear her his side of the story...
I don't think it would be worth much to listen to it. All the little tid bits that have come out lately explain why the team crashed and burned. At this point hes just not a very good coach.

It could be:

Mayo was told he'd have a full year to get comfortable.

Mayo was told he could ride the plan of keeping Maye benched and learning for the year while using a backup in his stead.

Mayo was told that he'd be guaranteed a second year to prove himself.

And none of those things came true when improvement wasn't happening. Or, more accurately, regression was the trend.

There's not much else to be led on about. He was part of a plan that isolated Belichick in the last year, and he knew it was coming. Which is whatever, if you're confident, do you and prove the haters wrong.

His team regressed (not just didn't improve, but regressed).

Eh. The only "truths" would be some meddling by the Kraft's in forcing Mayo's hand on things earlier than promised, and maybe throwing the last game. Not sure it'd do much to clear the overwhelming truths of suck this season :/
