Hope Slater sticks, if anyone does. Would be ok with ST coordinator best ST we’ve had in a few years (not saying much tho) but wouldn’t care if he got replaced.

Didn’t know this coach. The more telling sign would be his chosen destination over Foxborough. It could 100% be ‘writing on the wall’. Could be a big promotion in duties. But to go from the NFL to that level of college ball…. I know they’ve had success but…

Wouldn't surprise me if Troy Brown, Slater and Hightower along with Belichicks kid stays.

Familiarty, comfort level and friendship > lack of job security

App State Football head coach Dowell Loggains announced Thursday the hiring of Keith Jones Jr. as a defensive assistant coach.

Jones arrives in Boone after spending the last two seasons as a member of the New England Patriots' coaching staff.

"Keith has gained tremendous experience coaching in the NFL after spending time in both the Sun Belt and SEC," Loggains said. "He has great energy, and I'm excited to see his impact on our program."

Jones assisted with coaching the Patriots' defensive line for the last two seasons after also assisting the defensive line groups in graduate assistant roles at Arkansas in 2022 and Arkansas State in 2021. Loggains and Jones worked together on staff with the Razorbacks during the 2022 season.

This is the guy who shuffled the cards and dealt for Mayo in Poker and this was the guy who told him to hit or stay in Holdem.
I always double down on 9 deuce off-suit. And then I fold.

I hope Slater turns into another Dante Scar and survives about 6 regimes.

I doubt it, I think they go all the whether its Vrabel, Johnson or a dark horse.

Ya, as much as I loved all of those 3 as players - it may be time to get some actual coaches at those positions.
Brian B seems to be a legit DB coach, but he may not want to keep sticking around for a 3rd DC in 3 years.

I don’t envy Vrabel (if he becomes coach) telling those 3 Patriot hero’s to pack their bags. I hope they stay in some capacity.

Not sure Vrabel or anyone would fire Slater. What even is his role? he's just a special assistant, right? Seems like a fluff position. He's a franchise icon, feels like anyone coming in will just find some honorary role for him.

Many talk about retaining the STs coach, isn't Brown just a returners coach now? Seemed that unit did fine. IDK, another guy it feels like someone coming in would just find a nothing role to stick him in if he wants to stay. Vrabel obviously would have somewhat of a personal connection to him from their playing days.

Hightower... yeah he's likely gone. ILB coach is a key role for any sort of coaching setup on defense. New guy is going to have his own guy. Again, if you want to stick around in some nothing role then maybe. This one feels like it's going to end though.

Brian Belichick seems to be an actually good safeties coach so I can see someone keeping him in that role if they don't have their own guy.

Figured I would make a thread to post any news or info on coaches departing the Pats. I saw this one a bit ago.

Didn't seem like he had any impact this year.

I'm fine with Slater and Brown. Those positions don't even seem like much more that PR positions (which is OK). They don't change the number of coaches brought as ST coaches. I suspect that any ST coordinator would be OK with their help.
============
Brian (not Steve) Belichick should stay if the DC and Brian are agreeable. Of course, his brother Steve should be DC, but that is another story.
============
Hightower has no coaching experience. Was he so great in 2024 that the new DC would want to keep him on staff?

I mean, there’s really no way to know but he’s a good dude and a leader.

Well, he's also bringing Roman Phifer (supposedly), which is kind of awesome.

Wasn’t he hired as spiritual coach.
