Milton already getting inquiries

I'd keep him unless there's a massive overpayment. I'd do @Real fan 02 deal, but that's about it. You're going to squander a 3rd or a 4th for a really good backup, and this team has holes galore. They can't afford to draft a QB high right now, they hit on a flier on a late pick, took a chance on a late rounder with a ton of upside and it looks like it worked out. I'd like to see Milton play against a real NFL defense, playing angry and trying to win as opposed to one trying to get a division opponent to screw themselves out of a #1 overall pick. Milton plays well against a good team in a game of meaning? Well, that's a different story. Right now, he stays put.

I'll be honest. I think Milton has an outside chance of being the better of our 2 young quarterbacks. Not a huge possibility, but not zero either

Milton's nowhere near as polished or game-ready right now, but the raw tools are simply better than Maye's. I want to keep him. He may come in handy in case Maye gets hurt, and he's worth developing.

The fact that other teams are sniffing around kinda hardens my resolve. They're seeing what I'm seeing.
The dude was on the Blutarsky 7 year plan. He missed it by a year. He is going to be 25 in a few months. Maye will turn 23 just before the season starts, was in college for 3 years and started two. And as you pointed out is more polished. I think Milton is intriguing because of his arm and athleticism. But I don't see him suddenly killing it in the league. Could he be a poor man's Geno Smith in a few years? Maybe. Maye's ceiling is elite QB in the NFL within a few years.

With that said his accuracy looked much improved and the biggest thing was his touch on the short passes. During camp he was slinging heat to a back three yards away. Overall he looks like he took to the coaching he received and worked hard to sure up some of his glaring issues. Credit to him and AVP.

We can always sign a journeyman backup. We have plenty of cap space a few mil for a backup wouldn't be the end of the world. And get the right guy and he can even be a solid sounding board for Maye. Me personally if you can trade a 6th round pick for a 4th or even an outside shot at a 3rd from a desperate team. Why not?

Because his upside could still be higher than that.

You have to figure there's going to be 3 QBs on the roster. I want a guy on a 6th round contract and some JAG with Maye as opposed to 2 JAGS that you paid for and Maye.

People need to calm down about Milton.
1. Bills were playing 3rd string D - it's exactly how Joe would look in preseason.
2. Joe still holds the ball a long time. And for some reason our OL looked like a pro team for the first time all year.
3. He has skills, no doubt, but will need to learn to beat a gameplan defense.
4. Better than Zappe! So keep him around. At best its a RG3 / Cousins situation - if Maye collapses or gets a major injury next year.

Not to be a downer, either, but it's good to have Drake insurance. We all thought Mac looked like he would probably be "the guy" for the Pats long-term after 2021 even if the end of the season did fizzle slightly. Obviously that went downhill fast. I don't think we SHOULD be overly concerned about Drake fading too, but in the remote chance that happens, it's pretty nice to have a QB like Milton chilling there just in case, yeah?

If it's year 3, Drake's proven himself, and he's looking at his big contract extension - then you can start thinking about moving Milton, if offers are still good.

Agreed there. As you mentioned there are so many holes to fill it really seems like outside of QB and CB we have to upgrade everything on the roster. Holding on to Milton is vital. Becuase Drake has already had what 2 head injury concerns. If he has to miss any amount of time we would be in good hands with Milton. I'm sure we probably pick up another veteran in the offseason as the 3rd QB. I'm just of the mind with Vrabel here the structure can be more sound and we know that there would be much better roster decisions made.

Here’s how much I want to trade him. A 1 and a 3 in the 2025 draft and a 1 in the 2026 draft and he’s yours!
The team that would do that already trade those picks for swamp land

I am guessing those inquiries right now are along the lines of “hey that kid looked good, how about a 4th?”
And hope for a 5th….

Meh, you still have two JAGs either way and who was the kid last year that had everyone all hyped about? Same ****. Dude is what he is. Pull the trigger on trading a 6th rounder for an upgraded pick if the opportunity arises. We have bigger needs on this team that could be plucked in the 4th round, if you will.

If there is an offer that blows them away, trade him. A blow away trade for Milton is relative. Something like a high third or second rounder.
The guy was a sixth round pick. If they can turn it into a 3rd or 2nd one year later, it is a massive success. He is still a back up. Not sure his trade value will be more than it is right now.

Otherwise, keep him.

You trust the organization as it is TODAY to upgrade the team on a 4th rounder? Make more impact than Milton could?

Absolutely not. But I don't believe the organization will be what is today. Wolf will not be making the draft decisions come April. He may still be here, but he will not be the decision maker. Neither will Groh.

You can't be Robert Kraft and stand at a podium and state the drafts the past few years are unacceptable. Then convince yourself and your son, the people who have been heavily involved and in one case in charge of those drafts are the answer to fixing that.

Keep him the first 3 years unless you are blown away. Year 4 you can unload him if you get a good offer
You may never get a better offer than you get today.

if you took Milton right now, where would you slot him in this years QB class?

I'll start by saying I think your 2025 QB1 slots in at QB 6 or 7, at best, in 2024.....so the pool this year is shallow

normally I'd say keep milton for another year, maybe two, chances are you'll get him some regular season action vs some real defenses, some more pre-season looks, and his value might rise.......right now, with a piss poor QB class, with desperate GMs, his value might be peak.......

Given Maye was dinged up several times this year there's way more value to having Milton here vs picking up a day 2/3 draft choice. I highly doubt anyone is giving up a first rounder given his performance while impressive was against Buffalo's scrubs.

You may never get a better offer than you get today.

Would teams really offer that much for a good game against backups? Im guessing 4th at best
