Not sure how he got a raw deal. He didn’t deserve the job, was way over his head and was rightfully fired.
I was talking about **** MacPhearson, not Mayo. I've been of the biggest 'fire Mayo' people that you've ever seen.

This kind of situation defines the joke that is the Rooney rule. Some poor coach is going to have to be trotted out just for the sake of it. If I were a coach of color, I wouldn’t even make the trip without some kind of huge compensation.

My opinion:

Maybe he was rightfully fired, but it's forgotten that the guy got very sick, which was a factor in him losing his job; and his teams played hard for him. He's now remembered as a horrible coach, but I don't think that's fair. MacPhearson was twice the coach that Mayo is. I'm not saying he was a great coach only that he wasn't a complete nothing.

Well there is such thing as practicing interviews and you may not even want the job

Ben Johnson is my #1 if he’s interested. Hopefully he can see a future with Drake Maye.

We will have to agree to disagree.

Johnson has been in Detroit since before Campbell, so he has witnessed the makeover of the franchise.
Johnson was brought to Detroit by………..Matt Patrica.
He worked under Darrell Bevell and Anthony Lynn before becoming OC.
Before Detroit he spent 6 years in Miami under Philbin and Gase and a lot of OCs.
So he has 12 years in the NFL working with 4 different HCs and a number of OCs and multitudes of assistants. There should be no issue with him having connections.
Ben Johnson HC, Matty P OC? Lol

I guess no more trips?

I would have had security escort him out of the building before he even made it back to the locker room, let alone the press conference.

**** around find out. Intentionally ****ing your “ex team” is grounds for this.

In no way did a single sole think buffalo was actually trying to win. It would have been justified

The guy that hired him didn’t deserve the job and was way over his head. In fact, it all started with ownership.

Edit: haha reading further in the thread I was actually talking about Coach Mac, Sam Yankitvich and Victoria Kiam.

The more I think about it, Gruden is the guy. I know he said some really ****ed up stuff over email but he’s a proven winner who can develop QBs. I don’t see how Kraft doesn’t at least ping him for an interview.
Flores said some F'd up stuff too in a lawsuit but people still want to hire him. Gotta get good football guys despite that.

Just read this on the JetsNation forum
“does Vrabel count as our minority interview as he will be the only coach Woody interviews who has a career winning record?”
Went over to see how they felt about Vrabel
They are pretty bummed thinking that Vrabel is a sure gone conclusion to end up in NE
I prefer a full coaching hiring process but I like Vrabel and Johnson

I know I did exactly this. I lined up interviews with jobs I didn't want to go early during any conference week when I was looking for a job. After 2 or 3 of them, you are much more polished.
