Give me Vrabel or Give me Death

I've learned my lesson give me Vrabel I admit I was a Mayo guy. I was wrong on him.
Same here, I still think Mayo will be a good HC if he keeps at it, NE is just not a place for someone who doesn't know what they are doing, especially post-BB. The fans and media have such a high bar for coaching that a new guy will get swallowed whole unless he wins right away

Our team was BOTTOM 3 in just about every team offensive category. It was a Horror Show!

We need to hire a good offensive head coach, finding good defensive coordinators is a lot easier.

Why? Because if your OC is any good they will leave in 2 years tops for a chance to HC for another team.

For every Bill Belichick, there's a ton of failed retreads.
Correct, but I would argue that the failed retreads still have a much better track record than first timers. I am not against leaps of faith but we just did that. A full search is right and if Ben Johnson is head and shoulders better then so be it

Why? Do you really want to see the Pats hire another guy with no head coaching experience? Think McDaniels, Spagnola, Lesley Frazier, Wade Phillips, Norv Turner. It's way too risky for Kraft to take another chance on a guy your not sure can actually run a team...NO THANKS.

No one has Head Coaching experience until they're given the chance. Someone has to take that leap.

Johnson is likely to be as good as anyone else brought in by Wolf..

Yeah, who would want to bring in a young but a proven offensive minded coach when they can get a retread HC who most likely has been fired at least once.
Andy Reid was fired before so was Bill Belichick. Vrabel has proven he can win with less. Did you forget Brady's last game as a Patriot (a loss) came at the hands of Vrabel as Head Coach. Vrabels teams constantly give the Chiefs living hell in games. Vrabel has had a team who was the #1 seed in the AFC and has been to a conference championship game. What else do you want???

Absolutely agree with you. I think he should have been a DC before taking a HC position. What I'd be most excited about next season is that under Vrabel this defense will be Down right nasty!

What team should hire as HC "someone who doesn't know what they are doing"?

I wouldn't argue that at all.

Look at the current playoff picture.

First Timers:
-Dan Campbell
-John Harbaugh
-Demeco Ryans
-Mike Tomlin
-Sean McDermott
-Nick Sirrianni
-Sean McVay
-Kevin O'Connell
-Matt Lafluer

Retreads:
-Andy Reid
-Jim Harbaugh
-Dan Quinn
-Todd Bowles
-Sean Payton

The 2/3rds of the playoff pool are first time HC's. And I'd even argue that a lot of those retreads are exceptions to the rule. Nobody ever though Reid, Harbaugh or Payton were bad head coaches. Payton wanted out of the Saints. Harbaugh butted heads with ownership and he kicked him out first chance he got and it was a big deal. And Reid was considered good, but both him and the Eagles needed a change of scenery. They aren't your typical "HC who ended up flaming out and getting ****canned". Bowles and Quinn are the only ones who fit that model.

When on Earth did Vrabel "win with less". He lost with less.

I will concede your point, I could attempt to nitpick about how many of the first-timers Id really want to coach my team but there are more than enough good ones on that list

I did hear a few good points made today regarding Vrabel. Although he played for Bill, he's not part of Bill's "Coaching Tree". Yes, he did pick Bill's brain (especially regarding Defense and General Football Coaching), but he's his own Man. Although I'd be fine with a Johnson or Kingsbury, Etc., Vrabel will bring back the best of Bill (Do Your Job!!!). But, he values the WR position and other things that Bill obviously left much to be desired (and he'll work with competent personnel people which he might have a say in and bring onto the team). Unlike Mayo, he was not only a Coordinator, but a successful one (in addition to being a successful Position Coach prior to that). Until proven otherwise, I believe Vrabel coming here (along with his Coaching Staff and maybe even Personnel Department), is a done deal. We've seen this throughout the NFL for a long time. They'll interview other candidates and will bring in someone to satisfy The Rooney Rule, but with Free Agency and the Draft on the horizon, having all of your chess pieces in place sooner rather than later is just smart. And, although they will have to overpay for a Tee Higgins or Alaric Jackson or whoever else, there was no amount of money that was going to bring those two players (or any other young and talented players for that matter) to this team with the coaching staff that was in place. But with Vrabel or someone equally atractive as a HC, the teams chances of landing solid and still young Free Agents just greatly improved (although they'll still have to overpay).

If it’s Vrabel/ McDaniels, I guarantee another Super Bowl within the next 5 years, despite JeFraud’s efforts to undermine the franchise.
I never knew Patrick Henry was re-incarnated as a Pats Fan.

In what universe??

The two main things going for him:
(1) He's good at developing young QBs (see: Cassel, Jones).
(2) The odds of him getting a third crack at HC should be . . . low.

McDaniels just sucks as a galvanizing leader lmao. His stint with the Raiders sounds both cringe and painfully flaccid.

Vrabel should have been hired last year. This ain’t difficult. That said. I’m calling Ben Johnson after tonight’s game to see if he’s interested. The game has turned to offense.
