Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Think they’re hoping to bring back AVP?

I wouldn't be too quick to excuse the coaching, especially with malleable young draftees. These guys might all be stiffs in the end but reports I've heard (via Bedard and others) are that WR coach Tyler Hughes leaves much to be desired.
Yes, this coaching staff is all stiffs.

The WR coach sucks? I am shocked and I didn't need Bedard to know that. The OL coach sucks? Yup. Should I keep going ............

I read this and thought the same.
Maybe AVP already talked to Kevin about his pending firing.
If that’s the case it better be the whole staff.

Springer is solid

Ben Johnson thinking about staying put again? I wonder if it’s about the “right job” coming open…

Organized, competent, prepared, disciplined. I don’t see that at all.

He's run successful businesses.

He negotiated the league's TV deals, and was once a powerful owner.

We see a guy who has lost a step, but we really don't know what's going on.

Did you see RK dancing at Oprah's party a couple of weeks ago? He has lost more than a step. Looks really really old.

But the rookies also didn’t really play.

Maye obviously did, but Polk started early on then disappeared. Wallace got a seemingly minor injury early on and was held out almost all year. Baker didn’t really play at all until the last couple weeks. Robinson DID play and has developed and started to look OK the last couple weeks.

It’s hard to say if they were good or bad picks if they didn’t see the field. You can argue they didn’t see the field because they didn’t beat the guys ahead of them, but do you trust that Mayo was really making the best decisions in regards to that?

I don’t think it was the best draft but I wouldn’t be surprised if a new staff came in and actually made guys like Polk and Wallace into solid players in short order.
I agree. I feel we might have decent contributors in Robinson, Wallace and Polk if not for coaching.

My prediction - Maye, Pettus , Robinson will see 2nd contract with pats.

Polk, Wallace , Milton will play out rookie contracts .

Baker and jaheim bell will be cut in 2025 season and moved to PS.

I thought the choice of Mayo as head coach was poor, but given the prospective upgrade in the quarterback position, the return of Gonzalez, and the weaker schedule, I figured that one or two more wins than 2023 was likely. I was wrong. Mayo underachieved my modest, low-bar prediction.
What you fail to account for is other teams sucked even more. So strength of schedule was a mirage. We had 12th easiest schedule. So with that in perspective we underachieved considering we had maye who was performing at top 15 QB level and we had gonzo playing at pro bowl level

The defense regression was the biggest black mark on Mayo and the in game adjustments were pathetic.

Icing on cake was Mayo's pressers.

There is just not even 1 reason to bring back Mayo other than the fact that he was not put in a position to succeed.mayo has to at least look like to tried to make a difference. Sadly we don't see anything of that note too.

So yeah he needs to go.

The Patriots’ head coaching job isn’t officially open, but it’s definitely on the radar for people around the league. I’d go as far as to say it’s the job a lot of coaching candidates are eyeing. Why? Drake Maye.

If you’re trying to predict where the top coaching candidates will land, look no further than the teams with quarterbacks who have the potential to win big. Those organizations are always the most appealing. I asked three general managers where they thought Maye would land if he were in this upcoming draft; all three said No. 1 overall.

Kraft, you listening?

Interesting

Curran is running around again trotting out the usual array of excuses for Mayo's and the Krafts' failures. He's also rattling on about the "football overlord" crap. First of all, if your HC needs some nanny to help him figure out how to do his job, you obviously have the wrong head coach. Second, Curran must be a liberal: they too believe the solution to any problem is to put in place yet another bureaucrat. It does't work in governance, and it doesn't work in football.

What the hell has happened to Curran's sense of journalistic integrity? Shilling for the boss man and his darling boy ain't journalism.

Exactly the Krafts have lost the fan base. Firing Mayo would be a first step to regaining the fans.

Nobody will hold against them the firing of Mayo. Firing mayo is such a no brainer that I know the Krafts won’t do it.
I was a fan when they were the Boston Patriots. I have stayed the course through thick and thin. But if they **** this up and keep their mancrush at the head of the team for no valid reason whatever, to hell with them. If they don't care, I don't care. **** 'em.
