I defend the hires on the philosophy of hiring guys you trust not everything works out the way you want but they worked more than they didn't.

Don't forget where a lot of his staff came from in 2000.

So you was wrong just like Bill.

Big deal. You're not paid to make those decisions.

The philosophy worked for Weiss, Crennel, Pioli, Fears, Scar, Pepper Johnson, Floyd Reese, and Josh just to name a few off the top of my head.

We're any of those guys hired for positions on the opposite side of the ball of which they spent their entire career outside a couple years as a assistant 20 years prior?

Forgive me, maybe I missed it? What philosophy was Bill following when he hired Patricia as the offensive coach or whatever title he had when he had previously been exclusively a defensive guy?

Are you saying you would of been fine with Bill hiring Crennel as the offensive coordinator and Weiss as the defensive guy?

Does Vrabel changing his twitter mean anything?
Or is it just to get people talking about him?

Bill hiring Patricia and Judge to run his offense worked so well that all 3 of them are out of the NFL.

I wasn't defending the position switch just the cronyism part

I wasn't even arguing that cronyism was wrong. Simply that that's what the user probably meant when he used the word nepotism.

It's a league full of cronyism and everyone wants to work with who they trust. I'm fine with that.

As long as it isn't crazy like hiring your extremely avg defensive coordinator as your offensive playcaller. That was a bad decision.

All I CAN SAY, with confidence, is Patricia's offense was better than "Tried and True" BOBS.
Stats don't lie...at least very much.

He’s just stirring **** up. He’s a smart cat. He knows what he’s doing. What it looks like.
Not sure what the end game on that is. To get fans excited? Put Kraft in a tough spot?

He has to know the optics of him doing that. The end game is it gets people talking about him. Why do you think he did it?

Hiring from your core circle of connections is standard practice in the NFL. Mayo has been called out multiple times for not having the NFL connections to build his coaching staff. BB's cronyism issue is that he was with the Pats for so long that all his connections aged out to the point that he could not keep up with the brain drain on the staff. If you can't hire the trusted advisor, hire his kid.

Probably just what you’re saying. Get people talking. Get the phrase “Vrabel to the Patriots?!” trending in the media.

Predictions I hope I am wrong about but worried I won’t be:

Patriots beat the Bills because Mitch Trubisky stinks up the joint.
We lose the #1 pick, end up at 4.
Kraft announces how proud he is of the team for fighting to the last minute and beating a SB favorite, and says that character is why he hired Mayo, so his job is safe.
He says AVP is safe because he doesn’t want to disrupt Maye ( with better coaching and play callling)
He says the defense other than 50 or so big plays was good and who can expect them to overcome injuries and they got better and played their best game against the bills (backups)

With the 4th pick we go defense, citing the fact that last years (useless besides maye) draft was all offense so we owes that pick to the defense and we need to do better against long runs because the run d is good if you take those away.

Armed with a schedule with 8 games against teams with 5 or fewer wins, we “improve” to 5-13 and Kraft takes a victory lap and says “see we got better, I was right about Mayo”.
Oh and we stand they year sitting on 50 mill of unspent cap

Did vrabel changed his twitter picture to him and teddy ? Or was that always there

* sorry ross did see that you mentioned it

Not as bad a decision as hiring BOB or AVP. Matty P had higher points per game with Mac as a QB than AVP does with Maye as QB.

Yet all they say is that the issues are “talent” despite the 2022 OL and WRs not being much better than the 2024 versions and Maye being far better than Mac.

And you still have multiple posters complaining about Matty P like @festy1986 . It is like these guys didn't watch a game in 2024. How can you watch the 2024 season and still complain about Matty P?

Things aren't equal. Matt took over a more competent team and roster and started driving it down the wrong road.
