He was a head coach for eight years, he was .500 or worse for six of them. Don't blame the Brady/BB era.

If anything, his style of running a team is more out of step in this era than the last era he coached in. His philosophy is much like Belichick - a dominating defense and an efficient, but unremarkable offense. With Brady, Belichick got more than that on offense. But he clearly wanted to go back to that philosophy post Brady and failed.
I am just hoping the Krafts change their minds on Mayo Black Monday and sign Mike Vrabel.

Sean McDermott

Mike McDaniels

Rex Ryan

Jarod Mayo

They didn’t want to talk to Bill Belichick, but want to talk to Rex Ryan who they previously fired?

Yep, sounds like the Jets.

Those who live in Glass house shouldn't throw stones. One thing we'll be known for with Mayo is being in the Running for the First Overall.

Rex as Patriots DC isn’t ideal but I’d take it over Mayo.

I’m glad someone had the balls to post this when I didn’t. Kudos sir. That said, he could be an upgrade yet entertaining distraction from the dysfunction at worst, or be a total pro about getting back into the game and not being a distraction. When I say distraction I mean all the past animosity could be forgiven/forgotten. Rex Prime was a decent DC. And a DC for the hated Ravens nonetheless. Could Thunder and Co let bygones be bygones is the question…

This team is actually a good fit for his style. Ryan likes to run a 3-4 and they have a CB that can matchup with #1's in Gonzalez.

As he did in New York, (but not so much in Buffalo) he could provide a jolt of energy with the players. I remember Hightower in 2019 saying that he likes Flores' simplified attacking style which was in indirect shot at Patricia's read and react style. However, it would really take Ryan to swallow his pride to take a DC job with a team he absolutely hates for no reason (started in Baltimore).

Some of you need a reality/humility check. Rex Ryan is a good football coach. You van quibble certainly with his HC resume but of I had to choose between Mayo and Rex I’d choose Rex 100/100.

That’s how terrible and unqualified our current HC is.

They don’t even belong in the same sentence and that isn’t really a compliment to Rex as much as a nod to the fact that we have the worst coaching staff and possibly front office on the league right now.

Rex would whip Mayo on X’s and O’s, ability to motivate players, and probably even in-game adjustments.

It’s that bad.

We do not have a big gun HC anymore to throw shade at anyone.

Say what you want about him but the arrogant loudmouth EARNED his head coaching opportunity

The NYJ have been an absolute disaster for years. We bellyache about our squad, but everyone in the fan base remembers multiple championships. Even newly retired NYJ fans don’t remember their last trophy.

That's cause they don't have an NFL championship in their entire history. Hard to remember something that never happened.

Interesting how he wants to come back to the AFC East after B.B. and Brady are gone.

The Jets won Super Bowl 3 against the Colts.

Foot-ball is in his blood, he wants to coach again

Last check the Jets are not in the Running for the #1 overall: also we are 32nd in almost every statistical category.

I was just thinking that last night ….wow do they F’ing despise BB that much for the resignation on a Denny’s napkin?! Yep I guess so. Not seeing BB return to coaching NFL is sad….
