If patriots lose out, Travis Hunter could be theirs

Of course you are jumping all over it because you have stated in 1, 385 posts (and counting .... we get it) that you don't want to draft Hunter.

It isn't that I don't want him. The Pats have too many needs to draft him if he is going to play CB fulltime.

It may not matter anyway. Looks like the Pats are going to be the #1 pick after today. If they end the season at #1, they are absolutely stupid not to trade the pick. There are going to be three or four teams looking to get that spot to draft Sanders or Ward.

So.... just uh hypothetically..... do we get #1 if the Giants win?
I think so, at least for now - the only thing I'm not sure of is the loser of the Tennessee/Jacksonville game.

Do you really trust this front office with a trade haul of picks? I don’t, so I’d rather keep it simple and get the best player so they don’t f it up.

If the front office blows this draft, there is a decent chance they won't be making selections for any future picks they pick up in a trade.

we cannot possibly pass up on a generational athlete/talent like this.

Not to mention, we have by far the most boring team and least talented team in the nfl. We need to add some spark to our franchise, right now the patriots are an unwatchable product besides Maye. This guy will bring life back into football in foxboro.

If Jacksonville wins, the Pats are #1. If they lose, it will be a nailbiter to who wins the strength of schedule battle. The Pats are at .466 and Jacksonville is .475. After today that will change and the Bills SOS screw the Pats next week. The Pats have the tie breaker with all the other 3 win teams.

If the Raiders hold on to win, the Pats will be the 5th pick at worst. If the Browns win today with Tua out, the Pats are at worst the fourth pick. It might be one higher for both depending on the Jags SOS.

Gian5s come through. No way the patriots win next week

I get it. If they end up with 1 or 2 and the offer is insane like 2 1st’s and 2 2nds its gonna be hard if not impossible to turn down. A legitimate front office could completely transform a franchise with that kind of capital.

What would be hilarious is if the trade partner was at 3 and they still landed Hunter.

If the Patriots are the #1 overall pick, they will have no choice to trade down. There will be too many good offers not to. If they trade down and pick up several high draft picks, that would change my thinking on Hunter if he was available with the pick they traded for. Still don't know if I would take him over a player of need who might have All Pro potential, but I would be far more open to it.

He's not worth the #1 overall pick, hell no way. His camp already has demands of him playing both sides of the ball...NO THANKS. He simply isn't worth potentially 5 picks they'd get out of trading back. I think your caught up in the media hype. Have you even watched him? He's skinny as a rail, no way he holds up as a receiver and he's NOT a #1. At cornerback he could get muscled around quite a bit.

Then don’t let them make it.

SOS calculations include all games on the schedule not just the ones played. The Patriots .466 includes the bills being counted twice already

If WR is indeed on of our top 2 priorities and we are drafting for need, then I would trade down, take McMillan, a 2026 first plus whatever the giants or the raiders will give.

Of course, this is after we sign two LT's and a top WR in free agency.

To be clear, the 2026 first from the giants or the raider could be very valuable indeed.

Please please don't draft Hunter no matter what you do.

would you gamble trading down to 3rd and betting on TH is still there…?

Yes. There's comparable players at either position he "could" play. Hell a lot of people feel like he is neither the best WR or CB in the draft. You are drafting him hoping he is super elite once he's focusing on one and maybe can be used a couple of plays at WR if he's a CB.

Let's say you get an extra first next year. How much are you really losing not getting Hunter?
