If patriots lose out, Travis Hunter could be theirs

Draft a CB with the second rounder. That is where you get a #2 CB.
Why would we draft a #2 CB? We already have one. What we need is a #1 CB.

I like Christian Gonzalez but the notion that he is so good and so talented that we don't need Travis Hunter is beyond ridiculous.

On no board is he the consensus best CB or WR. We know he’s not playing both. And there is no precedent in the NFL to take a pure WR and have gadget CB plays. We’d be a laughing stock.
We are a laughing stock.

I just saw Hunter take a 6-yard bail-out pass on 3rd and 12 for 50+, and it was effortless. I may be underrating his WR skills. Caught it, turned on a dime, one cut, little head fake out the open, and just outran almost everyone.
He's been doing that and more every single game at WR, he's a total freak athlete, with elite ball skills.

Even now, there are still grown men out there saying he's not gonna be an elite WR... that just tells you they only pretend they've watch Buffaloes game this year.

Only said by the posters who want to draft that gator armed overweight guard at number 2 overall
You aren't the smartest guy in the room like you THINK, I'll be laughing at you later.

I’ll remember you, and when I’m right I’ll revisit and troll your post every anniversary
You're a fkn clown everyday, I don't need to even peg you, I I already know.
GFY LOSER.

Imagine some posters wanting to draft pass up Travis Hunter for a mediocre tackle?

It’s actually incredulous.

Can we rename this thread “If the Pats lose out, Abdul Carter could be their’s”?

Or how about: If the Pats lose out, a big trade-down haul could be theirs...?

If we could trade down pick up an extra pick or 2 and get an OL and a DE that would make a lot of sense. The team is fundamentally flawed in that they can not protect the QB or get pressure on the opposing qb.
Trying to rebuild the lines is paramount. Its just I have no faith in their ability to pick the right players and develop them.

I don't want a mediocre OT and a couple of picks that will add up to a top of the 2nd DE.

I'd much rather take the BPA with our first pick.

I want to sign our starting LT in free agency. Personally, I would also like his backup signed there also.

We have plenty of cap money to go into the draft being able to pick the BPA almost always, understanding that it is sometimes advantageous to trade up or down. And, yes, considering the VALUE at the OT position, I could see us wanting to make sure that we get an OT or even 2 in the top 3 rounds. I expect that we now have ONE OT that should b=make the 2025 team: Wallace.

If we pick 4th or later, I don't see that we would get a big trade-down haul. There is a major change in value after the top 3 players.

A big trade down in a very weak draft? Pass.
I mean, it depends on the package. If it's multiple future first and second rounders, then you'd have to consider it.
That said, I don't trust the current front office to be able to hit anything except an absolute layup. Go draft Travis Hunter. Talent is better than no talent.

That’s really the backbreaker at this point. Whether it’s a possible unicorn like Hunter, a potential elite edge rusher in Carter, OL or whatever else direction they go. Have such low confidence in this staffs ability to cultivate and develop.

Hearing Mayo himself note a few weeks ago some idiocy about how the players are on their own when they step on the field. Well..they may be on their own as well with the preparation and development involved on non game days also.

A 2026 1st and 2nd, plus the 2025 1st Rounder? I agree we should take it, but that is unrealistic, IMO, for Sanders or Ward or Milroe or Hunter. But if we can get it, we should take it.

An extra 2nd and 3rd this year? Just take Hunter.
