Patriots Injury News Marcus Jones to IR

There's a simple solution to this...keep him strictly to returning kicks and punts. He's not a DB anyways.

I think he probably won’t hold up to such a heavy workload like they gave him this year due to other guys being injured. But that’s okay, because ideally he’s a part time nickel CB anyway. Get your full time CB2 locked down and then just play Marcus doesn’t see the field as much. Also gives him more opportunity to play on offense if he’s more fresh, and offensive players take fewer hits anyway.

There is sort of an interesting dynamic where you could take Travis Hunter as your WR1 who is a part time corner in certain packages, and Jones as your nickel CB who is a part time WR… that gets a little complicated though…

Small frame is a durability concern. All Pro level returner, solid enough cover guy, perfect guy to fill put your roster but if he's injury prone not sure how much you can count on him.

DJ Reed might be available is FA. Worth a look even if Hunter is drafted so the Pats can use Hunter as a spot duty CB.
I think whoever takes him just needs to lean into it and get ready to play him at both spots. It's such a unique thing and I think you'd be potentially selling it short not to go for it. NFL Ohtani.

Marcus tackles hard ... leaves it all on the field ... so there's that.
2nd on the team in pass breakups .... 10.

Playing full-time CB and WR is unrealistic. No-one has that stamina. You have to pick Hunter's spots somehow.

Ohtani does not run much playing DH (offense) or pitching. No equivalence at all.

I'm not big into college football, how have they been managing his snaps?

And I fully agree Ohtani doesn't deal with the same stamina standards of a football player and even still his arm broke down. I think the comparison is still obvious and imo in both cases you rob the sport and the fans if you don't go for it. Maybe another comparison would be Deion or Bo playing two sports.

I'd love him on returns and a role on offense. Yeah DB I never saw him as one. His size is the reason he will always likely never finish a full NFL season.

DJ Reed is an upgraded more physical version of Marcus Jones. Absolutely we should be in on him.. be happy to sign him away from the jets..

Marcus is a fine DB.

If we take your advice, we'd need yet another DB, one to play or backup at nickel.

On a side note ,why does our teams injured list look like a laundry list while other teams usually has 3 or 4 members at max..

I think it's time to really question the training staff and conditioning staff.
It feels like it’s been this way for years going back to the BB days. I always look at our mid-week injury reports and ask myself how we have so many more players on the list than our opponent. I used to think it was just some gamesmanship by BB. Now I’m not so certain.
