Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

I guess. I live in the DC area and when people talk about the Redskins, all they talk about is the Gibbs SB-winning teams. People prefer to talk about the winning, which I think will be Kraft's legacy no matter what he does now.
I lived there at that same time. It always amazes how the ownership effects the team. The minute the Cookes sold, it was toilet time. The final straw was canning Marty as the coach. Good times. Thankfully Pats drafted Drew and my Pats fandom was rekindled.

I wonder if they could come to an agreement with McDaniels under Vrabel (it would have to be verbal) that he WILL NOT seek a Head Coach opportunity for at least 4 years. I’m sure he isn’t looking for that right now anyway, but if he hits it off with Maye, I bet teams will come calling for him again in 2 years tops. They’d need to have some assurances of stability, not just with him but the guys under him that he would inevitably pilfer when he leaves.
You can imagine what a coach's buyout is going to be if they have that written into his agreement.
I look at it a different way. Good OCs will get HC offers, bad ones don't. No one wants stability at coordinator positions if they suck. If they do a great job, we should take that as a win even though the obvious consequence is that they will be in demand for HC offers.

Nobody is ever going to offer McDaniels another HC position however. It took years of repairing his image to get a second shot after how bad Denver went and he made all the same mistakes in Vegas.

Josh McDaniels was great for us. However, I am done with the past. I'm thankful every day for the great 20 years of football that all the great Patriot players and coaches gave us. I just done want to wallow in the past. I am a Pats fan and I'm happy Drake Maye has potential and there is nowhere to go but up. We can't recreate the past by resurrecting old favorites. Flores is my only exception and that has nothing to do with the past, only his recent accomplishments. Not sold on Vrabel. Competent, yes, great, I don't think so.

Keion White seems to be out

He said before the season started he didn’t like a coach to coddle him he wanted to be coached hard, yelled out and pushed.

Vrabel is starting to make sense.

I’m not convinced that if we go 0-2 that Mayo is as secure as we all think.

Agreed, but I am worried about the Bills game.

Bills may be playing their reserves and it will be a must win game for Mayo.

Bob is looking for any reason at all to keep Mayo, and a win against the Bills in the last game would likely do it.

Maybe the Bills’ reserves will stomp us?

Not every player is rallying around the coach as they lead us to believe.
White said prior to the season he liked to be coached hard.
Flores or Rex Ryan would be a perfect DC for him.

They might.

But winning a close one against the reserves of the Bill is that really something to build on?

White doesn’t mesh with a let’s celebrate the moral victories Everyone gets a ribbon for trying their best type of coach
Let’s hope other voices follow White’s.

That would be a signal that even Bob Kraft can’t ignore.

White is one of our youngest and most physically gifted defenders and it appears he isn’t a fan of our coaching.

How many assets are you willing to sacrifice on the Mayo Altar for your ego, Bob?

I think the good showing in Orchard Park was more than enough for them to keep Mayo. I don't think it matters if he loses out.

White was supposed to be one of the building blocks of the rebuild. He's gone from being a high motor guy who needed some coaching to get him pointed in the right direction to completely vanishing under the defensive geniuses of Mayo and Covington. Now we learn he's just trying to survive until he can escape. Way to be a leader of men...

Exactly. How can you tout a guy as a "leader of men" when the one guy who has all the talent in the world and just needed some leadership, instead does nothing, specifically because he doesn't like the leadership of the guy who was supposed to be a leader?

I just don't know who Mayo's style is supposed to cater to. As far as I can tell there are a lot of guys who HAVE talent but have disappeared in a puff of smoke. KJ Osborn, Ja'lynn Polk, Sidy Sow. Mike Onwenu and Kyle Dugger both had their performance fall off. Tavai fell even more. Rhamondre has not been good. They brought in guys from elsewhere who started strong (like Ben Brown) and then got worse the longer they were here. Chuks Okorafor literally quit football after a couple of drives!

Meanwhile, who is the opposite of that coin? What player has thrived under Mayo and exceeded their assumed ability? I can't think of one.

Not a good sign. If White is simply the first to speak up, and others now find it safe to say similarly, it will be a bad thing for Mayo. That is "losing the locker room".

Chuks comment made me chuckle...
