The thing is next 2 years we will still be a middling team , but at least we can grow our core and show some growth. For that we need experienced coaches and solid coaching and decent free agency and drafting.

It's not gonna happen with Mayo as Mayo will most likely be fired in 2025. There is no way we can see growth unless Mayo gets hotshot DC and OC. Nobody is gonna join knowing Mayo has maybe 6 games at max.

Good OC and DC will join only when HC has over 2 years. Pair Vrabel with Liam Cohen and retain Wolf and see how it goes for next 2 years. That's the only option we have. By hiring Mayo we lost 1 year. No point wasting 1 more year.

Ben Johnson isn't coming here. Vrabel might have better options in Chicago. But Kraft needs to make a move now.i hope they are privately speaking to Vrabel.

Sure. You however are not getting enough talent for Maye in one year to fix the offense.

A single off season might make us .500 if we do really well. But there's just too many holes.

-every player on the line could be replaced by league average right now and be better.
-we do not have a WR1 and I'm doubtful we have a real solid WR2. We have a team of WR 3's who wouldn't even be amongst the best WR3's in the league.
-Stevenson will be better behind a better run blocking line, but I'm unconvinced he can ever be a full fledged work horse. We need more depth at RB, especially since Gibson is older and on borrowed time.
-Speaking of older, Hunter Henry is 30. So while that position is set now, we are maybe a year or two away from having to once again figure out what the hell we are doing at TE.
-Aside from White, we really need some better guys upfront who can stop the run and generate pressure. Our biggest weakness on defense is run stopping.
-The LB corp needs an overhaul and they are really just a huge liability in the passing game.
-The kicker is closer to being one of the worst starting kickers than he is to being middle of the pack. That's a huge problem.

None of that equals "one off season with a good draft and FA fixes the team". If you get 3-4 solid contributors in the draft even none our elite, that's a good draft. If you get one or two solid pickups in free agency. That's a great FA.

That's like best case scenario **** and it would still leave us with a ton of holes.
Really?? FA = LT Cam Robinson - WR Tee Higgins - The Draft = T Hunter or Tet McMillan: that's with an improved Pop Douglas and K Boutte. Any combination of those WR's drops Pop Douglas and K Boutte to numbers 3 and 4 better Offense immediately!! Also RB is Deep in 2025 we should get somebody on par or better than Rham ie... RB Cam Skattebo Arizona State.

Firing Mayo won't look bad for anything, except Kraft's ability to hire talent with his emotions. Which is to say, that's everything for a guy trying to cement his HoF legacy. But, if he's not willing to concede a short-term mistake now, this team will flounder for the rest of his decision-making days, which is to say, hopefully not much longer.
If he can land Vrabel - the fan base will be ecstatic, and resurgent with hope (again). They'll forgive the Mayo-disaster.
I'd honestly suggest keeping AVP - just for the continuity of Maye. But, fire DC, and fix this defense.

Good post. Interesting to see if Kraft can swallow his pride for the sake of the franchise.

I'd take Vrabel in a heart beat. I agree about keeping AVP another season. I'm not psyched on the idea of Maye having to learn the EP system under McDaniels in year 2.

Overall I think AVP has been ok given our roster. Is major issues are predictable play calling at times and poorly designed route concepts on some plays.

1. Tee Higgens is HIGHLY LIKELY to be resigned before hitting the market. Everything both sides have said is that they value him and want to do whatever it takes to keep him. That is priority one for the Bengals.

2. We have no clue what our draft position will be. One more win and it's extremely possible we don't get either. But even if we do, Hunter is playing CB, he's probably going to one of the least needed position groups on the team. Tet at WR would help a lot but it does nothing to fix the line or give us anymore depth.

3. Cam Robinson might be franchised or resigned. Likewise, he's on the wrong side of 30 next year.

Also Robinson and Higgens will be huge bidding wars where other teams will drive up the price and a win now team might be willing to give them something insanely stupid.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter also weighed in with a very strong report about the situation.

“I think the Krafts have been very clear that they have not been planning a change. They don’t want to make a change. They’re not looking to make a change,” Schefter said.

“So, it’s moot with Mike Vrabel and New England right now … unless it’s not. But, to me, New England would have to fall apart down the stretch. Have more poor showings like the one it did on Sunday, and there would have to be a change in the thinking of ownership to even introduce that being a factor.”

If the Josh angle is not true, Vrabes might try and steal Arthur Smith from the Squealers or Downing from the Jets

It will get better when Buffalo lays a 50 Burger on us Twice. Also McMahon and the Chargers ain't losing to Mayo.

We have the $$$$$$$$ can't get something for nothing. The Vikes have a lot of $$$$$ tied up in certain guys Cam Robinson will Walk. They have that Young Guy below on IR who's a Big Time Player. We ain't living in that Patriots Dynasty age when we could get very good players for nothing. You seem so against spending the Krafts $$$$$$$, they have $$$$$$$ to burn.

Buffalo might take a knee vs NE in week 18.
If so
Mayo should counter with the Joe Milton Experience; that's if Head Coach of Offense AVP approves and Jonathan initials the work order.

I listened to this one earlier. To me, this translated to “Mayo needs to show us something in these last 3 games, because if it’s more of what we saw in the last game then we are out”

For the votes against firing Mayo, tell me one thing he does well? That’s a rhetorical question, so there’s no need to answer that.

He’s demonstrated he’s not an X’s and O’s guy by admitting he relies on his assistants for that.

He doesn’t have any connections around the NFL for both coaches and players. This is extremely underrated that Bobby clearly wasn’t aware of. Case in point, he didn’t notice all the coaches and players Bill Parcells, Carroll and Belichick poached when the HC for the Pats.

Bobby is going to have make the tough (not tough) decision and fire Mayo. Wolf/Groh have to go as well.
Oh I know this one! Good at being a hypocrite

Mayo will find a way to Lose he's now synonymous with it.

I’m reading it as we are stuck and Vrabel and McDaniels will coach the Bears or Jets.

Hope springs eternal.

I expect that the Kraft's or their representatives have spoken and will speak to representatives of coaches and GM's. If someone that they want will come to the team, THEN Mayo could be removed from his HC position.

This will all happen before the end of February. I don't think that they feel the need to clean house and fire Wolf and/or Mayo.

We need to send Thunder a message, right to the only thing he cares about, his wallet.

Before this season is over, Thunder needs to see what it’s going to look like if he brings Jerod the Fraud back next year, in the form of empty seats.

Anyone who steps foot in Gillette Stadium until Mayo is fired is undermining the franchise. A fan boycott needs to be organized.

Cam Robinson might be franchised or resigned. Likewise, he's on the wrong side of 30 next year.

Robinson is highly unlikely to be franchise tagged. The Jags already tagged him twice so if the Rams tag him the cost is not the average of the top 5 contracts at his position but the top 5 contracts in the league. That would be @ $55M for a 30 year old LT which is more than the Rams are projected to have available. Keeping in mind the tag value is straight cash homie, it all hits the cap in that year. So yeah, not too likely at all.

It's real simple. NFL HC's are evaluated on what they get out of their players. Sure, you need good players. But, every team has a bottom 2/3 of the roster that aren't top flight guys. And their job is to teach, motivate and scheme to get the average pieces to perform at a higher level than they were. Mayo has not only failed there, he has actually caused average players to look like busts by about week 5.
Just look at Defense alone (his specialty): Dugger, Tavai, White, Jennings, Peppers, Austin - all guys that grew by the end of last season, and were said to be solid contributors this year. But all have regressed - even with obvious fundamentals.
Players in their prime don't forget how to play... they get bad coaching and bad schemes that make them look bad.
