This whole thing is just sad. The greatest coach of all time basically ends up campaigning for himself to get a job at a second-tier football school in a second-tier conference. I am happy that he gets to coach again since he must truly love it to humble himself like this, but I was holding out hope the Eagles can Sirianni after they flame out in the first round of the playoffs. A situation like that would be perfect for Bill. A readymade "win now" team where Roseman could worry about assembling the team, and Bill could just coach. There is a solid chance Bill could break Shula's record in one season with the Eagles.

I was hoping the Bears would hire BB. They were stupid not to.

The nice thing about NCAA football is that you can have 105 players on your roster. If a snowflake or malcontent don't want to go along with the program GTFO and get a new guy in there who is hungry.

30% are walk-ons and eligible for scholarships.

I am not sure that the NFL to the CFL analogy is correct. College football is very exciting, high level, and more popular than NFL football in a lot of the USA. That is not an analogy to the CFL. I understand that you are sad, and you said you are sad, but BB is happy so be happy with BB and his family and friends.

All the discussion of this and one thing I’ve not yet seen is anything about implications for television. I’m not familiar with college football TV contracts, but I’m betting whatever network holds rights for UNC games is happy with this. I’m also betting we’ll see more UNC games on more stations, with more ad revenue, as a result of this. UNC must be happy with that foreseeable outcome. This can only help fuel greater interest in their program, and college ball in general. This does more to feed the money machine than pretty much anything Bill could have done.

That's irrelevant. Ben Johnson is one of the top if not the top HC candidates this cycle and Bill isn't. It's already been reported that he's the Bears top desire for HC.

This board, and Patriots fans in general, significantly overrate the apatite the league has for a HC in his 70's leading their franchise after a 5 year slump. It has nothing to do with people here. Nobody in the league wanted him for two years in a row.

You can’t help yourself can you ? You dig up whatever negative article you can find on Bill and act as if it’s gospel. Anytime he opens his mouth you jump up and down hurling insults at him . Because he is not praising the Pats ( no one is praising them anyway) you think it means he has an agenda or is butthurt or any other adjective you want to throw out !!! Bill at the moment is not part of any team, he is entitled to his opinion, he was always like this, never heaped a lot of praise on the players. He didn’t want them to become complacent. Why is this time such a surprise to you ? And for the record, he knows more football in his pinky than most people on this board !!!! Time to grow up Sb1 and stop acting like he stole from you !! You might not have liked the last couple of years and you might feel like it was all his fault that Brady left but he still gave us an amazing 20 year run that I will never forget and he was very much a big part of that !!! BB himself got a shot with the Patriots coming off of his CLE gig - they have a 1st round pick for him!!! It was a bad roster at the end and he really struggled to build a rapport with his staff as “his guys” were retiring, but it’s still crazy to me no one looked at the totality of his resume and said “yeah I think the guys a decent chance to take”.
