The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

I had to laugh. I just saw an article that stated that Curran said "There's a better than 50/50 chance" regarding BB and the UNC HC Job. BETTER than a 50/50 chance? That's mathematically not possible. 50/50 implies half a chance Yes, and half a chance No. If Curran wanted to say that BB was absolutely going to take the job, than it would be a 100% chance. Or, 55-45%, 51 to 49%, Etc. Curran needs to go back and take a basic non-common core math course and maybe that will also help him cut down on his exceptional hyperbolic statements. Although I doubt it.
Pick any nits lately?

Makes sense since Bill's favorite player of all time is a Tar Heel. (LT)

Bill will take a NFL job next month even if he's hired by UNC.

If one opens up he wants that is.

If stupid Kraft had not meddled, he would have been coaching Atlanta ! Arthur Blanks wanted him till he got a phone call from ok Krafts himself. I despise that man so much, you fire someone and then you don’t want them to work elsewhere. In the real world an employer can be sued for defamation and interference but not among the billionaires club !!!
The rumor actually was that the the Atlanta front office talked Blank out of it. They all thought that Belichick would get the job and then start lobbying to get full control of the team and they'd all end up losing their job.

Let's be real, no owner is going to listen to Kraft (assuming he even called Blank, which Blank denies) if they think Bill can turn their team into a title winner.

Do we think that Pellegrino and Brian Belichick? They are both very good coaches and their losses would hurt an already wounded defense.

Edit: looks like I may have had a stroke while typing whatever the hell I was typing. Will BB take Pellegrino and Brian.
no stroke actually occurred

I think he's past the point of no return with this, too much effort went into it on both sides. IMO, BB belongs in the NFL and this is his fallback option. It's a shame. But apparently, the man feels compelled to coach, even though a more rational move would be retiring.

Hey maybe he un****s college gameplay and sets the blueprint for a program that develops OL to be pro-ready day 1.

I don't get this decision by Bill. It's early December. Wait until NFL teams fire their coaches. Too soon.
Maybe he's just sick of hearing from Jimmy Johnson about having a College and NFL Ring?

Bill now has to meet with boosters and convince them to re-route some of the money that they contribute to the basketball program.
Basketball's not nearly as expensive to boost. Shouldn't take much convincing.

Bill wasn't that bad without Brady. He only had 8 losing seasons out of 11.

The funny thing is Bill had no intention of moving on from Drew even after a 5-11 season and an 0-2 start. If not for Mo Lewis Brady might have sat on the bench for years.
Whatever his intentions his accomplishments were grand. No one else could have done what he did.

I mean can he really contend for a national championship from UNC?

I would think just making the dance would be a huge accomplishment?

But I don't really know college especially with all the new nil and playoff stuff.

It would be a huge accomplishment - although the free transfer portal and NIL money makes a huge, huge difference from the beforetimes.

Lol at the people who insisted BB was obsessed with Shula’s regular season record and his legacy… what a joke.
I remember the topic came up on ESPN’s Sunday pregame show, Bruschi said he would be shocked if Bill was going to coach just to break Shula’s record, they asked him why and he explained it would go against everything Bill preached and taught all his players, it is never about your stats or numbers. Bruschi convinced me.

The man loves to teach and talk the game
Recruiting will be tricky
I assume a lot of kids would not want to play for a grump
But on the other side of that is….
That grump could be one of the best at getting you NFL ready
NFL ready kids get drafted

That will be his recruiting pitch: "We can get you ready for the NFL."

North Carolina is beautiful, they obviously are paying him, he has been hanging around Washington with his son and friends and seeped in the college atmosphere. I think he likes being a teacher first and foremost.

He didn't even wait for the NFL season to end, all the jobs to come available or the interview process... he clearly doesn't give a rat's ass about "his legacy" because it's already chiseled in granite. When they talk about the greatest pro coach of all time, his name will be one of the first mentioned.

Then those college kids are absolute knuckle heads if they have reservations playing for Bill. I loved it when Carroll went to USC in 2001. At the time, UCLA dominated both basketball and football. USC's program was pretty much an afterthought and Carson Palmer was looking like an overhyped disappointment. Carroll put them back on the map and they eventually became rock stars kicking UCLA to the curb. They style of play was the closest thing to an NFL team in college football.

Young prospects should be fighting to be coached by a 6 time Super Bowl winning HC, 2 time Super Bowl winning DC Bill Belichick who coached a recently retired Tom Brady.
